Fire engulfed the rear half of the Ferrari F430, but fortunately, no casualties were reported in the accident.
According to Carscoops, the Ferrari F430 suddenly caught fire while refueling at a Citgo gas station in Signal Mountain, Tennessee. The Signal Mountain Fire Department has not yet announced the cause of the fire, so it is unclear whether it was due to user error, a vehicle malfunction, or the gas pump.
By the time the fire department arrived, the Ferrari F430 was already engulfed in flames. Fortunately, the fire was quickly extinguished, and no casualties were reported. Photos from the scene show that the fire had consumed the entire rear half of the F430, melting both plastic and metal components. The fire even reached the cabin, destroying it completely.
The fire department responded swiftly to the blaze, managing to put out the flames before the entire Ferrari F430 was gutted. They then proceeded to shut off the remaining gas pumps at the station and blocked a lane of traffic to ensure the fire didn’t spread further. Their quick reaction helped to control the situation, although the damage had already been done.
Over the years, some Ferrari F430 owners have speculated about potential issues with the fuel filler neck of the car, but no concrete evidence has been found. Back in 2009, Ferrari recalled 1,950 F430 Spiders from the 2005 to 2007 model years due to hydraulic tubes that could rupture from engine heat, causing fluid leaks and potentially leading to fires. However, the F430 that caught fire at the Citgo station in Signal Mountain is believed to be the coupe model.
