According to Motor1, Honda has once again increased the price of the Civic Type R in the US. One of the most popular hot hatches now costs USD 800 more than the 2024 model and a significant USD 2,700 more than the 2023 model.

The starting price for the 2025 Honda Civic Type R has been set at USD 46,690, excluding a USD 1,095 delivery fee.

Honda has not announced any changes to the 2025 Civic Type R, so it is unclear what the USD 800 increase will bring to the table.

At the USD 46,690 price point, Honda Civic Type R buyers will only have two exterior color options: Crystal Black Pearl and Rallye Red. They will have to shell out an additional USD 455 for other colors like Boost Blue Pearl, Sonic Gray Pearl, or Championship White.

The 2023 Honda Civic Type R was initially priced at USD 43,990 when it launched in 2022, and it saw a USD 1,900 increase last year. Honda attributed the previous price hike to increased production and logistics costs.

The Honda Civic Type R continues to be powered by a 2.0L VTEC turbocharged engine, delivering 315 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 420 Nm of torque between 2,600 and 4,000 rpm. The power is sent to the front wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission, enabling the car to sprint from 0-60 mph in 5.3 seconds and reach a top speed of 169 mph.

Standard equipment includes 19-inch wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires, Brembo brakes, and a rev-matching feature.

The Honda Civic Type R’s competitors in the US market include the Volkswagen Golf R (USD 46,890) and the Toyota GR Corolla (USD 37,635), both equipped with all-wheel drive. Other alternatives are the Subaru WRX GT 2024 (USD 45,335) and the Hyundai Elantra N 2024 (USD 34,850).

In Vietnam, the current-generation Honda Civic Type R was introduced at the Vietnam Motor Show 2022 and officially priced in December last year. The car is imported from Japan and retails for approximately VND 2.4 billion ($103,200).
