On the evening of August 28, MG Vietnam shared a video on their official fanpage announcing the launch of the MG7 and providing an overview of their dealership network across the country. However, the video sparked controversy as it featured an incomplete map of Vietnam, notably excluding Ha Giang province, which shares a border with China and is home to the iconic Lung Cu Flag Tower, located at the northernmost point of the nation.
Following the backlash, MG Vietnam promptly removed the video and issued an apology on their fanpage, acknowledging the seriousness of the mistake and taking responsibility for their oversight in coordinating with their video partner. The post also included a corrected map of Vietnam, emphasizing the inclusion of Ha Giang province.

The apology statement from MG Vietnam read, “We recognize the severity of this error and admit our negligence in coordinating with our video partner, resulting in the display of an inappropriate map. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.”
The post garnered numerous comments expressing disappointment and concern over the significant oversight, especially regarding Vietnam’s sovereignty. The comment section on the MG Vietnam fanpage post has since been locked.
