Nissan has recently confirmed the addition of an all-new PHEV variant to its X-Trail model.
According to speculations, this PHEV version will be introduced alongside the mid-life facelift of the Nissan X-Trail.
Due to their alliance, the Nissan X-Trail PHEV is likely to share components with the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Both vehicles currently utilize the same CMF-C platform.
It is highly probable that the Nissan X-Trail will be equipped with a 2.4L naturally aspirated 4-cylinder engine, along with two electric motors and a 22.7 kWh lithium-ion battery. This drivetrain is similar to the Outlander PHEV, offering an all-electric range of 86 km.
At present, the Nissan X-Trail PHEV has been confirmed for the North American market, while other regions may receive the e-Power hybrid version.
However, this is a supplementary hybrid configuration, distinct from the plug-in hybrid system that Nissan is developing. According to Best Car Japan, there is a possibility that the X-Trail PHEV will also be introduced in Japan and Europe.
