The Rolls-Royce Spectre is an intriguing ultra-luxury car, not only because it is the brand’s first EV, marking a significant departure from their renowned large-displacement gasoline engines, but also because it is the first electric vehicle in the ultra-luxury segment. This opens up a world of novel experiences for its discerning clientele.
True to Rolls-Royce’s unwavering commitment to excellence and safety, the Spectre has been meticulously crafted, featuring a modest yet sufficient electric motor and an interior that exudes the aristocratic elegance synonymous with the iconic marque. Currently, two units of the Rolls-Royce Spectre have arrived in Vietnam.
The first Rolls-Royce Spectre to be spotted in Vietnam sports a white exterior with a white and green interior and is owned by Mr. Pham Tran Nhat Minh, better known as Minh “Nhua.” The second Spectre, which has recently emerged, boasts a distinctive color associated with the brand’s electric lineup.
An intriguing aspect of these two ultra-luxury vehicles is their distinctive license plates. Minh “Nhua” opted for the auction plate 51L-038.38, which cost him VND 270 million, to match the plate 56S-3838 on his Rolls-Royce Ghost. The owner of the other electric Spectre chose the plate 51L-698.89, which cost VND 145 million at auction. For these affluent owners, spending lavishly on license plates that complement their exquisite vehicles is evidently not an issue.
In contrast to other Rolls-Royce models that are notorious for their high fuel consumption, the Spectre, being a pure electric vehicle, doesn’t burn a single drop of gasoline. With a single charge, it can cover a substantial 515 kilometers. Specifically, it is equipped with an electric motor that delivers a maximum output of 577 horsepower and 900 Nm of torque. As the brand’s inaugural electric vehicle, it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in a mere 4.4 seconds, reaching a top speed of 250 km/h.
The Rolls-Royce Spectre’s EPA-rated range of 515 kilometers is more than sufficient for a trip from Hanoi to Quang Binh on a single charge. The British marque shares that this range is more than adequate for their target audience, as their research indicates that Rolls-Royce owners typically have multiple vehicles in their garage and don’t rely solely on their Spectre for daily commutes.
The Rolls-Royce Spectre is priced at VND 18 billion in Vietnam, but with optional extras such as custom paint, wheels, and exterior features, the final cost can exceed VND 25 billion, excluding on-road expenses.
One of the most striking features of the Spectre is its captivating headlamp design. This is the first time the British marque has positioned the headlights so low, and it is the only Rolls-Royce model to incorporate a daytime running LED strip above the headlights, precisely aligned with the top of the famous pantheon grille.
The distinctive pantheon grille, reminiscent of a hearth, has been slightly reduced in size while retaining the brand’s signature style. A prominent air intake runs across the front end, incorporating a small air dam, and the Spirit of Ecstasy hood ornament, modified to be 1.7 cm shorter, graces the front of the vehicle. Thanks to these design elements, the Spectre boasts an impressive drag coefficient of just 0.25Cd, making it the most aerodynamically efficient Rolls-Royce model to date.
The Spectre’s side profile exudes a dynamism not typically associated with the brand’s current lineup, accentuated by sporty side skirts and bold 23-inch wheels that break free from conventional designs. At the rear, the LED matrix taillights leave a lasting impression, unmistakably identifying the vehicle as a Rolls-Royce Spectre. Additionally, the Spectre features coach doors, a signature element of the brand’s design language.
