The Lamborghini Temerario is the upcoming supercar that will succeed the Huracan, and it promises to be a significant upgrade. It features an entirely new hybrid powertrain, delivering more power and performance than its predecessor. The Temerario boasts a modified body and an all-new aluminum space frame at its core.
Lamborghini Temerario’s new aluminum frame makes it 25% stiffer than the Huracan
Unlike the Lamborghini Revuelto and its McLaren rivals, the Temerario does not utilize a carbon fiber monocoque chassis. Instead, its aluminum frame shares more similarities with the Huracan but has been designed from the ground up to support the new car and accommodate the greater forces generated by its hybrid powertrain.
According to Lamborghini’s technical director, Rouven Mohr, the new chassis uses less than 50% of the components from the Huracan’s chassis. It also has 80% fewer thermal welds. Despite this, the Temerario’s chassis offers 25% more torsional rigidity.
The Temerario also features a specially designed rear engine frame. Lamborghini states that it was created to accommodate the new twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine and contribute to the car’s stiffness, improved handling, and increased comfort.
The highlight of this new supercar is undoubtedly its powertrain. While the Gallardo and Huracan were powered by naturally aspirated V10 engines, the Temerario’s bespoke V8 engine can rev up to an impressive 10,000 rpm.
The Lamborghini Temerario’s engine produces a maximum output of 789 horsepower between 9,000 and 9,750 rpm and 538 lb-ft (730 Nm) of torque. But that’s not all; Lamborghini has also incorporated three electric motors. Two of these are located at the front, while the third sits between the V8 engine and the new eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Together, the powertrain delivers a combined output of 907 horsepower, propelling the Temerario from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.7 seconds, with a top speed of 343 km/h.
The Lamborghini Temerario is expected to start at $357,621 in the United States, excluding a $4,000 destination and delivery charge, which is approximately $24,000 more than the Huracan. The first deliveries are anticipated to begin next year.
