The BYD Tang DM-i 2025: A Refined Plug-in Hybrid SUV with Impressive Range
BYD has recently unveiled its latest CUV, the Tang DM-i 2025, featuring their new DM 5.0 PHEV powertrain. This model is an upgrade from the current version, with a new-generation Tang also expected to launch soon. Both vehicles will be sold concurrently in China to cater to diverse customer needs.
The most notable enhancement of the BYD Tang 2025 is its DM 5.0 PHEV system, comprising a 1.5T BYD472ZQB engine that delivers 154 horsepower and a potent EHS200 motor generating 268 horsepower.
Equipped with a 21.504 kWh Blade battery, the Tang DM-i offers an impressive 115 km of pure electric range and a combined range of up to 1,150 km. Its fuel consumption stands at 4.95 liters per 100 km.
In terms of design and equipment, the BYD Tang 2025 remains largely unchanged from its predecessor. Its dimensions measure 4,870 mm in length, 1,950 mm in width, and 1,725 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,820 mm.
At the front, chrome details have been replaced with black accents, and customers can opt for black chrome on the side for a more cohesive look. The rear features full-width taillights inspired by traditional Chinese knot-tying patterns, while the lettering on the trunk has been switched from chrome to black. A new exterior color option, Weiyang Gray, is also available.
Inside the cabin, the BYD Tang DM-i 2025 boasts a 15.6-inch central touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and the DiLink 100 smart cockpit system. It offers seating configurations for six or seven passengers.
The Tang DM-i 2025 also features a lightweight chassis, flexible FSD shock absorption, and BYD Disus C suspension. The rear suspension utilizes a five-link independent system, enhancing stability and safety across various terrains.
Priced between 179,800 and 207,800 Chinese yuan (approximately 640 to 740 million VND), the BYD Tang DM-i 2025 comes in four trim levels. It is expected to be introduced to the Vietnamese market in October as an imported model from China.
