The Rolls-Royce has appeared in dozens of James Bond adventures, but only one truly matters: Auric Goldfinger’s classic yellow Phantom. To commemorate the 60th anniversary of the release of “Goldfinger,” Rolls-Royce has created a special Phantom filled with intriguing details related to the movie.

Auric’s car is a 1937 Phantom III Sedanca de Ville with a distinctive yellow and black paint job, now replicated on the new, extended wheelbase Phantom. Like the old car, the Rolls-Royce Phantom VIII ‘Goldfinger’ features a yellow body contrasted with a black roof and bonnet, and even mimics the wheel design and black and silver wheel covers of the 1937 Phantom III Sedanca de Ville.

The iconic grille retains its usual chrome plating, but the Spirit of Ecstasy hood ornament is crafted from 18-carat gold. However, it’s the crazy interior details that make this unique build stand out.

Details like the 18-carat gold-plated Phantom speedform, glowing and stored in a secret compartment in the dashboard. Or the gold finish inside the front and rear glove boxes, the latter containing a quote from Goldfinger about his “fondness for the color, its brilliance and its divine heaviness.”

The door sill plates are designed to resemble gold bars, and a gold golf club in the trunk hints at the one Goldfinger uses in a game with Bond at the beginning of the film. Even the VIN plate – ending in 007 – is made from 24-carat gold.

Other fun Easter eggs include a fictional map of Fort Knox on the picnic table, marked with 22-carat gold inlay, a hand-painted dashboard map showing the topography of the Furka Pass, and a starry headliner replicating the position of the stars on the last day of filming on the pass in July 1964.

Rolls-Royce even managed to get the AU1 license plate from the film, a nod to the chemical symbol for gold for those who remember their high school chemistry. No price has been given for this project, but the brand states that this unique build has been delivered to a significant UK collector.
