The Wuling Bingo, a compact A-segment car, is scheduled to be launched in Vietnam on November 2, 2024. The vehicle will be assembled locally and delivered to consumers starting in 2025.

The Wuling Bingo will be offered in two variants with expected prices of VND 470 million and VND 530 million, respectively.

Wuling Bingo is positioned in the A-segment, directly competing with the Hyundai i10 (VND 405 million), Kia Morning (VND 349 million), Toyota Wigo (VND 405 million), and VinFast VF 5 (VND 460 million).

With prices set at VND 470 million and VND 530 million, the Bingo may struggle to find success and could face a similar fate as the Wuling Hongguang Mini, which was introduced in Vietnam last year but failed to gain traction.

The Wuling Bingo has overall dimensions of 3,950 x 1,705 x 1,580 mm (LxWxH) and a wheelbase of 2,560 mm. Its design seems to draw inspiration from the Mini Cooper, featuring rounded contours and 14-inch wheels, which are significantly smaller than the 17-inch wheels found on the VinFast VF 5.

While it is unclear what features the vehicle will have when it arrives in Vietnam, in the Chinese market, the Wuling Bingo boasts a simple interior layout with a 7-inch instrument cluster behind the steering wheel and a 10.25-inch central infotainment screen. It also includes power-adjustable front seats, automatic climate control, a push-button start, and electronic parking brakes.

In terms of safety, the Chinese electric car offers only basic features, including ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, a rearview camera, parking sensors, and tire pressure monitoring.

Wuling Bingo will be available in two versions in Vietnam. One version is equipped with an electric motor that produces 67 horsepower and 150 Nm of torque. This variant has a top speed of 100 km/h and offers a range of up to 333 km on a single charge, as per the CLTC standard.

The other version also generates 67 horsepower but delivers 125 Nm of torque. It has a higher top speed of 130 km/h and a range of 410 km on a single charge, as per the CLTC standard.

When converted to the WLTP standard, the range figures become 270 km and 330 km, respectively, for a full charge.

According to the specifications, the Wuling Bingo is equipped with fast DC charging. However, in Vietnam, Wuling does not yet have a charging station network, so buyers will have to rely on AC charging at home. Using third-party charging options can be expensive and limited.

Wuling expects the Bingo to achieve monthly sales of 120 to 150 units, which is three times the average monthly sales of the Kia Morning (less than 50 units per month). However, with its basic features, lack of charging infrastructure, and pricing that seems out of step with the market, the Bingo may struggle to avoid the same pitfalls that plagued the Wuling Hongguang Mini.
