Suzuki and Toyota have recently announced plans to elevate their strategic partnership in the field of electric vehicles. As a result, a Suzuki-developed all-electric SUV will be added to Toyota’s global product lineup. The vehicle is expected to roll out of Suzuki Motor Gujarat’s Indian plant in early next year.

The development of this all-electric SUV marks the first step in the original equipment manufacturing (OEM) collaboration between the two Japanese automakers. This highly anticipated EV is set to launch globally soon, offering a fresh choice in the rapidly growing SUV segment. Through this partnership, Suzuki and Toyota also contribute significantly to the mission of carbon neutrality.

While Suzuki has not yet revealed the identity of this all-electric SUV, it is not difficult to predict that it will be the production version of the Suzuki eVX Concept, which made its debut at the Auto Expo 2023 in India last year.

Toyota will sell this affordable all-electric SUV, developed by Suzuki, globally starting next year.

In 2024, Suzuki showcased this concept at auto shows in Indonesia and the Philippines. Therefore, it wouldn’t be surprising if Suzuki’s all-electric SUV is sold in the Southeast Asian market in the near future.

The Suzuki eVX Concept impresses with its bold exterior design, featuring a high ground clearance, a vertical front end, large aerodynamic alloy wheels, and captivating LED lighting. This electric vehicle forgoes a traditional grille and sports a raised bonnet.

Additionally, the eVX Concept has a roof that slopes towards the rear, hidden door handles, digital cameras instead of side-view mirrors, and striking silver accents on the doors. At the rear, thin horizontal tail lamps, a steeply raked back windshield, and a vertical tailgate complete the contemporary design.

Encased within the eVX Concept’s body is a dedicated electric vehicle platform developed jointly by Suzuki, Toyota, and Daihatsu. Its dimensions measure 4,300 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width, and 1,600 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,700 mm. Interestinglysectioning

Details about the eVX Concept’s electric powertrain are scarce, but we know that it will be equipped with a 60 kWh battery pack. This efficient setup is expected to deliver an impressive range of up to 550 kilometers on a single charge, as tested on the Indian driving cycle. Additionally, the eVX will feature a capable all-wheel-drive system.

eVX aims to bring Suzuki’s 4×4 heritage into the new era of electric vehicles, delivering a true SUV driving experience,” said Norihide Takei, Managing Director of Suzuki Philippines, at the PIMS 2024 exhibition.

Rumors suggest that Suzuki intends to price its electric vehicle competitively, with a starting price ranging from 1.3 to 1.5 million Rupees (approximately 390 to 450 million VND).
