The first day of racing at Dong Mo, where over 140 racers from 71 teams gathered, along with the cheers of thousands of passionate spectators, marked an intense and emotional start to the PVOIL VOC 2024 season as every turn of the wheel left a profound impression on the challenging tracks.
A RACING COURSE FULL OF CHALLENGES
Under the scorching sun and high expectations, racers embarked on the first leg of the competition, experiencing a rollercoaster of emotions. The diverse and treacherous terrain tested their driving skills, judgment, and teamwork. Sharp turns, steep hills, and rocky paths pushed the racers to their limits, forcing them to give their all to overcome each challenge and prove their mettle.
Race track number 13, dubbed the “Dead Marsh,” remained a formidable challenge for both the Advanced SUV and Professional categories. In this test, racers had to navigate their way down a muddy slope from a hill. With no ropes to guide them, racers were free to devise their own paths, making it an incredibly difficult task for all participants. Vehicles had to traverse the marsh and make their way back to the starting point, with only a few teams successfully completing this challenge within the allotted time.
On the first day of competition, November 1st, only a handful of teams managed to conquer this obstacle. Most teams either exceeded the time limit or were unable to complete the course. Similarly, in the PVOIL VOC 2023 race last year, track number 13 was considered one of the most challenging courses.
Tracks 4, 11, 12, and 14 also witnessed intense competitions in the Advanced Pickup, Advanced SUV, and Professional categories. The competition on track 14 was so intense that teams continued racing well into the night, even past 8 PM on November 1st.
A HEART-POUNDING EXPERIENCE
The leaderboard witnessed notable upsets as racers pushed their limits, showcasing impressive performances. While previous champions reaffirmed their prowess, new contenders emerged, creating surprising twists and injecting fresh energy into the race. The relentless competition among the teams, coupled with a spirit of sportsmanship, contributed to an intense and meaningful day of racing. The close competition on the first day set the stage for an even more thrilling and captivating remainder of the event.
Here is the list of teams that secured the top spot in each race, as per the latest update from the organizers:
