The Honda Super Cub 50 Final Edition: A Retro-Styled Limited-Edition Bike
Super Cub 50 is one of Honda’s legendary models, but the company has recently announced its discontinuation in Japan. This decision comes amidst tightening emission policies in the country, making it challenging to produce small-displacement engines.
As a farewell to this iconic bike, Honda has launched the Super Cub 50 Final Edition. It sports a familiar blue color, reminiscent of the Super Cubs from decades ago, along with chrome accents.
The front badge bears the words “Honda 50 Final Edition,” designed after the original Super Cub C50 from 1966. Additionally, it features a classic analog instrument cluster, a rear carrier, and a special key.
The bike is powered by a 49cc engine, delivering 3.6 horsepower and 3.8 Nm of torque.
The pre-tax price of the Super Cub 50 Final Edition is 270,000 yen (approximately 45 million VND), and only 2,000 units will be available. Honda will start taking orders for this model from November 8.
The Honda Super Cub was introduced in 1958 in two versions: C100 and Cub 50. It quickly gained popularity and became widespread in various markets worldwide due to its versatility, ease of use, fuel efficiency, and durability. The Cub also holds a special place in the hearts of many Vietnamese from the 1980s to the early 2000s. Even today, imported Japanese Cubs are sought-after by enthusiasts for their retro charm, often commanding high prices in the resale market.
