Over 70 teams and more than 140 athletes competed in the PVOIL VOC 2024, participating in 14 races with over 500 runs, all vying for glory and prizes with a total value of over VND 500 million.
TERRAIN TWIST – CHAMPION’S COURAGE TESTED
This year’s event, taking place from November 1st to 3rd, 2024, at the Vietnam Cultural and Tourism Village, attracted 71 teams and more than 140 athletes, including 25 champions from previous seasons. The four competition categories were: Professional, SUV Advanced, Pickup Advanced, and Basic, further emphasizing the organizer’s commitment to elevating the challenge and providing opportunities for racers to surpass their limits, both personally and mechanically.
The race introduced several innovations in organization and track design. The race track in the Dong Mo area was improved by 40%, featuring diverse terrains such as hills, lakes, forests, swamps, and dry streams to increase difficulty and provide a unique appeal. Notable changes included relocating some tracks, merging the cow track and the gymkhana track into Track 8, adding pitfalls to Track 4, and redesigning Track 15 (the rally track) in the forest with unexpected twists and turns that demanded tactical adjustments, enhanced skills, and upgraded equipment from the competitors.
Mr. Cao Hoai Duong, Chairman of the PVOIL Board of Directors, shared that PVOIL continued as the exclusive fuel provider for the racing teams through the PVOIL 4U application. This new product was developed by PVOIL to offer customers a convenient, smart, fast, and safe way to purchase fuel with attractive benefits. The app enables users to buy fuel at nearly 900 PVOIL and COMECO gas stations nationwide.
AWARDS GALORE – A DRIVING AMBITION
With a total prize value of over VND 500 million, the PVOIL VOC 2024 served as a powerful motivator for racers to conquer each challenging leg of the competition.
Additionally, Ford Vietnam, as a sponsor, offered special prizes for athletes driving Ford vehicles with the best performance:
Ford Racing Team with the Highest Position in the Basic Category: VND 15,000,000
Ford Racing Team with the Highest Position in the Pickup Advanced Category: VND 15,000,000
The Minigame Contest, open to all event participants, offered a total prize of VND 30,000,000 for the best photos of Ford vehicles (detailed rules will be announced on the official communication channels of the race).
RACING FESTIVAL AT DONG MO
Mr. Nguyen Dai Hoang, CEO of OTV Media JSC, shared that this year’s event could be considered the Dong Mo Racing Festival. Coinciding with the PVOIL VOC was the PVOIL Cup 2024 National Auto Gymkhana Championship. This was the first time a gymkhana competition of this scale was held nationwide, featuring two qualifying rounds: one in the North (July 2024) and the other in the South (September 2024).
Additionally, a gymkhana contest for racing enthusiasts was held. Spectators and fans had the opportunity to test their off-road driving skills on five test tracks with eight high-clearance vehicles from five brands: Ford (Ranger Raptor, Ranger Stomtrak, and Ranger Wildtrak), Toyota (Hilux), Isuzu (D-Max and Mu-X), Suzuki (Jimny), and Skoda (Kodiaq). These tracks simulated off-road conditions, showcasing the vehicles’ strengths through challenges such as hill climbs, muddy terrain, inclined slopes, balance beams, and more.
The organizers also set up a separate car wash area for competitors to clean their vehicles after tackling the muddy tracks. This area was conveniently located next to the PVOIL Zone, where PVOIL displayed and distributed fuel.
The closing ceremony and award presentation for the PVOIL VOC 2024 will take place at 6:00 PM on November 3rd.
