Modena Automobili Unveils Maserati Biturbo Shamal Restomod Project with Modern Interior and Massive Power

The upgraded Maserati Biturbo Shamal retains its iconic boxy design, now complemented by LED lights, a carbon fiber body kit, wider wheel arches, and larger wheels. The rear has been significantly modified with an integrated spoiler and a quad exhaust system.

This Maserati is fitted with a modern 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine, sourced from the discontinued Ghibli S. The engine’s power has been increased from the standard 404 hp to 493 hp, while torque remains the same at 550 Nm.

The engine is mated to a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission, sending power to the rear wheels with the help of a limited-slip differential borrowed from the Ghibli. According to Modena Automobili, the restored Biturbo will sprint from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 4.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 290 km/h (180 mph).

Additionally, the Shamal is equipped with Brembo sports brakes featuring 13.5-inch discs at the front and 13-inch discs at the rear.

Modena’s Maserati restoration project commenced in 2022 and is currently in the “advanced design, assembly, and certification phase.” The first prototype is expected to be completed by the end of the first quarter of 2025, based on the 1983 Maserati Biturbo Coupe.

Only 33 units of the handcrafted Maserati Biturbo Shamal Restomod will be produced at Modena, each starting at a price of 585,000 euros (~16 billion VND) before taxes, making it more expensive than any current Maserati offering, including the MC20 GT2 Stradale. Modena Automobili is now taking pre-orders for this model, with an estimated delivery time of 8 to 10 months.
