After a sudden dip in the first half of August, the number of imported cars into Vietnam has shown signs of recovery in the two most recent reporting periods.

According to the General Department of Vietnam Customs, from September 1st to September 15th, a total of 8,267 completely built-up cars of all kinds completed customs procedures to enter Vietnam. The import turnover of this group of cars in this period reached more than $170 million.

Previously, the number of imported cars into Vietnam in the first half of August reached only 6,195 units before increasing to 8,888 units in the second half of the month.

The sluggish purchasing power of the Vietnamese car market, especially during the ‘Ngau’ month, is considered the main reason for the sharp decrease in imported cars in the previous reporting period.
