India is a significant market for the Kia brand, so it’s no surprise that the automaker is developing a new model specifically for this billion-strong market.

Kia has recently released the first teaser images of its upcoming SUV for the Indian market. Positioned between the Sonet and Seltos, this new model will compete in the small SUV segment.

The all-new Kia Syros is set to make its debut soon.

The new Kia model is expected to be named the Syros, a trademark that has already been registered in India. This vehicle is part of the brand’s 2.0 Strategy, which is slated to kick off in early 2025.

While the teaser images don’t reveal much about the exterior design, they do suggest that the Syros will have proportions similar to an MPV. As such, it resembles a miniaturized version of the Kia Carnival.

Specifically, the new Kia SUV features a flat roof and an almost vertical rear hatch. It also boasts a strong B-pillar, reminiscent of its corporate cousins, the Hyundai Casper and Inster.

Additionally, the Syros showcases muscular fenders, sleek LED headlights with sharp daytime running lights, and L-shaped taillights that wrap around the rear windshield. Both the daytime running lights and the taillights are designed to resemble constellations, a theme seen in other Kia models.

Mr. Gwanggu Lee, Managing Director and CEO of Kia India, stated that the Syros would feature an “advanced design language that breaks away from the conventional SUV mold.” He further promised that the vehicle would offer best-in-class features, superior performance, and unmatched comfort, all while catering to the needs of Indian customers.

According to Autocar India, the Kia Syros will feature a futuristic and lounge-like interior with creative seating arrangements. It is likely to be equipped with a fully digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, electric/ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, a Bose sound system, six airbags, and other advanced safety features.

Local media reports suggest that the SUV will be based on a new platform compatible with both gasoline and electric powertrains. Initially, it will be offered with a naturally aspirated 1.2-liter gasoline engine, paired with either a manual or automatic transmission, and front-wheel drive.

Pricing details for the Kia Syros remain undisclosed. However, it is expected to be positioned below the Kia Seltos in terms of pricing for the Indian market.
