In the Vietnamese market, the 1.5 billion VND SUV segment is always a completely different segment compared to the affordable segments, as customers choosing to buy cars in this segment have high-class standards.

Therefore, the models in the 1.5 billion VND SUV segment are always equipped with a series of modern technologies, as well as eye-catching and luxurious designs.

However, not all models are attractive to users and are given priority. Here are the three best buys in the 1.5 billion VND SUV segment.

Hyundai Palisade

At first glance, the Hyundai Palisade captivates all eyes with its enchanting exterior design, exuding strength and superior class.

The highlight of the Palisade’s “face” is the unique geometric “Cascading Grill” radiator grille, with impressive layered slats.

This is not only an aesthetic highlight but also a testament to its superior aerodynamic optimization, applying Parametric Dynamics technology, similar to its “sibling” Hyundai Tucson. Palisade appears as a mighty “warrior”, ready to conquer all challenges with its owner.

The strong front bumper, combined with the sharp “eye-like” front lights and the unique T-shaped LED daytime running lights, further enhance the majestic and proud look of the Palisade.

With its “huge” dimensions, including a length of 4,995 mm, a width of 1,975 mm, a height of 1,750 mm, and a wheelbase of up to 2,900 mm, the Palisade confidently rivals other large SUVs in the segment. As a result, the interior space of the car becomes surprisingly spacious, especially the third row, perfectly meeting the travel needs of the whole family.

Step inside, and the Palisade continues to impress with its luxurious and modern interior. It features a sharp 12.3-inch central screen, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity, a 360-degree camera, HUD display, electronic parking brake, etc.

But it doesn’t stop there; Hyundai Palisade pays special attention to seat design, especially the driver’s seat, which is designed in ergonomic style—a technology previously featured in Genesis luxury models. This type of seat is optimized to reduce fatigue for the occupant during the journey.

In addition, both the first and second rows of seats are equipped with cooling and heating functions, providing comfort in hot or freezing weather conditions. The newly designed headrests and armrests are adjustable in angle, optimizing comfort for the occupants.

The second-row seats can be configured in a 2-seat business-class style or a 3-seat standard style. One-touch adjustment technology makes it easy and convenient to change seat positions, especially when moving to the third row.

The Hyundai Palisade is not just an SUV; it is a statement of success and an upscale lifestyle.

Ford Explorer

The Ford Explorer was introduced in the Vietnamese market in November 2022, and at its launch, it attracted a large number of consumers. However, two years after its introduction, the car has not changed much from its predecessor.

The Ford Explorer’s design retains the style of the previously launched version, with perhaps only a few changes in equipment.

The new-generation Ford Explorer has a more modern and robust appearance. The grille is connected to the large LED headlights. The front bumper is equipped with a chrome-plated protective plate.

Built on a new unibody structure, the Ford Explorer is 90 kg lighter than its predecessor. The wheelbase has been increased from 2,866 mm to 3,025 mm, providing more comfortable interior space for passengers.

The car comes with 20-inch alloy wheels and run-flat tires. Distinctive character lines run along the body. Similar to the old version, the new Explorer has a square-shaped rear design.

Inside, the Ford Explorer is still equipped with an 8-inch entertainment screen and three-zone air conditioning. It also features a multifunctional three-spoke steering wheel and a 6.5-inch digital instrument cluster. Ford has increased the use of sound-insulating materials between the engine compartment and the passenger compartment. The windshield and two front door glasses use high-quality materials to enhance sound insulation and block ultraviolet rays. The car is also equipped with wireless phone charging, a 12-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system, and an air filter.

At the time of writing, the new-generation Ford Explorer is priced at around 2.099 billion VND, significantly higher than its competitor, the Hyundai Palisade. However, its design and equipment do not offer many outstanding and different features compared to its Korean rival.

Volkswagen Teramont X

In the 1.5 billion VND SUV segment, the Volkswagen Teramont X is a formidable competitor in the Vietnamese market.

The new-generation Volkswagen Teramont X has a sportier and more distinctive design than its predecessor. The Platinum version is equipped with the R-Line sports package, featuring many glossy black details, such as the grille, mirror caps, wheels, and window trim…

The highlight is the IQ.Light LED Matrix lighting system with a two-tier structure, integrating many advanced technologies such as four adaptive lighting modes and blind-spot lighting support, helping drivers move more safely and easily at night.

Moving on to the body, the Volkswagen Teramont X has dimensions of 4,917 x 1,989 x 1,729 mm (length x width x height) and a wheelbase of 2,980 mm. As this is a coupe-style SUV, the C-pillar is designed to slope towards the rear. This gives the Volkswagen Teramont X a more youthful and modern appearance.

In the Vietnamese market, the Volkswagen Teramont X is equipped with a host of modern technologies, such as a 12-inch infotainment system, a 12-speaker, 700-watt Harman Kardon sound system that delivers a Dolby 7.1 surround sound experience.

The front seats are electrically adjustable in eight ways, with a four-way lumbar support, three-position memory for the driver’s seat, cooling and heating functions, and a separate charging port. The rear seats have a center air vent, floor-level air vents, heating function, and individual charging ports.

The “heart” of the Volkswagen Teramont X is a 2.0 TSI turbocharged direct-injection engine that produces a maximum output of 220 Hp/ 4900-6700 rpm and a maximum torque of 350 Nm/ 1600-4300 rpm, with a top speed of 200 km/h. The engine is paired with a new 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission and 4MOTION all-wheel drive.

Despite its modern and youthful design and a host of advanced technologies, the Volkswagen Teramont X has yet to truly captivate discerning customers in the premium SUV segment.

Being of Chinese origin is the biggest obstacle for the Teramont X to compete with formidable rivals such as the Ford Explorer and Hyundai Palisade. The psychological hesitation about the quality of “Made in China” cars is still a difficult barrier to overcome for Vietnamese consumers, especially in the premium segment, where quality, brand, and driving experience are highly valued.

In addition, the Teramont X’s driving experience is considered less exciting than its competitors. The steering wheel feels quite light and lacks the necessary firmness, even when driving at high speeds.

With these inherent weaknesses, the Volkswagen Teramont X still has a long way to go to establish itself in the premium SUV segment, where customers always demand perfection in quality, brand, and driving experience.

Conclusion

In the SUV world, the 1.5 billion VND segment is always an exclusive “territory” where only the most excellent “warriors” can survive. This is because this segment caters to knowledgeable and demanding customers who expect perfection in a vehicle.

A 1.5 billion VND SUV is not just a means of transportation but also a statement of class, character, and lifestyle. Therefore, every detail, from design to technology, must be meticulously crafted to ensure a pinnacle driving experience and absolute satisfaction for the owner.
