According to a report by the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA), the automotive market maintained its growth trajectory in October 2024, with a total of 38,761 units sold, reflecting a significant 53% year-on-year increase compared to October 2023.
Notably, VinFast emerged as the top-selling automotive brand in the Vietnamese market during this period, recording impressive sales of over 11,000 units, signifying a 21% growth. The domestic automaker also dominated the scene with two of its models, the VF 3 and VF 5, securing spots in the top 10 best-selling vehicles for the month.
Specifically, by the end of October, VinFast had delivered nearly 5,000 units of the VF 3, propelling this compact electric car to the top position in the overall market.
Following closely behind was the larger VinFast VF 5, with sales of over 2,600 units in October.
The remaining positions in the top 10 best-selling vehicles for the month were occupied by: Mitsubishi Xpander (2,131 units), Mazda CX-5 (2,008 units), Ford Ranger (1,881 units), Toyota Vios (1,757 units), Honda City (1,670 units), Toyota Yaris Cross (1,510 units), Mitsubishi Xforce (1,481 units), and Hyundai Accent (1,425 units).
Within the entry-level segment, the Hyundai Grand i10 maintained its dominance, recording sales of 753 units in October, nearly four times that of its closest competitor, the Toyota Wigo.
In the compact segment, the Toyota Vios continued its reign, achieving sales of 1,757 units, outpacing its rival, the Honda City, by 87 units.
The Mazda3 led the way in the mid-size segment, delivering 676 units and almost doubling the sales of its closest competitor, the Kia K3.
Despite modest growth, the Toyota Camry retained its top position in the D-segment sedan category, with sales of 76 units. It was closely followed by the Mazda6, which recorded sales of 74 units. The Kia K5 and Honda Accord trailed behind with sales of 37 and 4 units, respectively.
Mitsubishi Xpander continued its dominance in the MPV segment, with 2,131 units delivered to customers.
Ford Ranger reinforced its leadership in the pickup truck segment, with October 2024 sales of 1,881 units, representing a substantial 27.6% increase compared to the previous month.
In the B-segment CUV/SUV category, the Toyota Yaris Cross made a surprising comeback, with October sales of 1,510 units, narrowly surpassing the sales of the Xforce by just 28 units.
Mazda CX-5 maintained its strong position in the C-segment CUV/SUV category, with sales of 2,008 units in October, reflecting an 8.1% increase compared to the previous month.
The Ford Everest dominated the D-segment CUV/SUV category, with impressive sales of 1,281 units in October, marking a notable 35.1% increase compared to September.
