Volvo Cars Launches First All-Electric Model in Vietnam, the EC40, Completing its Plug-in Hybrid Lineup

From November 15-17, 2024, at Tasco Mall in Hanoi, Volvo Car Vietnam introduced the brand’s first all-electric model in the Vietnamese market, the Volvo EC40, during an exhibition themed “Recharge To Shine – Recharge Energy to Shine.” This event underscores the Swedish automaker’s commitment to its emission-free future goal and its mission to safeguard the safety of individuals and the environment.

The EC40 enters the Vietnamese market with a Twin Motor variant, delivering an impressive performance of up to 408HP. It offers four distinct color options to cater to diverse style preferences. With each charge, this electric vehicle can travel up to 510km. Through the EC40 launch event in Vietnam, Volvo Cars emphasizes its vision of a sustainable, emission-free, and safe future for all.

With the Recharge to Shine event, Volvo aims to offer unique experiences steeped in Scandinavian culture, showcasing its advanced technologies and safety features honed over nearly a century. The event also celebrates human values and inspires attendees to live a fulfilling life. Volvo takes pride in presenting its comprehensive lineup of Plug-in Hybrid vehicles, including the XC90 Plug-in Hybrid Ultra, XC60 Plug-in Hybrid Ultra, and S90 Plug-in Hybrid Ultra. The brand’s efforts are not only geared towards providing the best options for Vietnamese customers but also contributing to emission reduction, environmental protection, and building a sustainable future for everyone.

Unveiling Volvo Cars’ Past, Present, and Future Over Three Days of Events as Part of the “Recharge to Shine” Campaign

For the first time in Vietnam, an event blends cutting-edge technology with multi-sensory art, curated by Volvo, to convey the profound message of “Recharge to shine – recharge energy to shine.” The event emphasizes the connection between humans, technology, and nature, highlighting their interdependence. Technology serves humans, bringing them closer to nature, which, in turn, nurtures humans wholly. Together, our actions can lead to a cooler summer and cleaner air to breathe daily.

During these three days, the Swedish automaker welcomes guests to a 1,000m2 event space, featuring an outdoor exhibition area and an art auditorium with interactive content and experiences. The space exudes Scandinavian charm, drawing inspiration from Volvo’s distinctive design language, evident in the creative setup and utilization of natural lighting techniques, true to the Swedes’ nature-embracing spirit. The event captivates with a showcase of Volvo Cars’ heritage highlights, where visitors learn about the history of groundbreaking innovations and safety technologies, along with the brand’s commitment to nature through the use of sustainable and environmentally friendly materials in its research and development endeavors.

Volvo EC40 – Ushering in a Smart and Sustainable Era of Pure Electric Mobility

The pinnacle of the event was the captivating launch moment of the Volvo EC40, titled “For Life,” where Volvo forged an emotional connection with its customers, pointing towards a bright and sustainable future in the Vietnamese market.

The EC40 seamlessly inherits and innovates upon the aesthetic and functional elements of a Crossover, infusing it with a sporty style that exudes elegance and dynamism while retaining the distinctive Volvo design cues.

Following the impressive EC40 launch was a classical music performance coupled with image-generating technology, titled “Re.imagine.” This project fuses classical music with advanced imaging technology to offer a refreshed experience of classical music in a modern setting. The underlying theme of Re.imagine for this event revolves around the relationship between humans, nature, and technology. Throughout the performance, attendees will visually experience classical music, as artificial intelligence and image-generating technology render each note in real time on a large screen. These cutting-edge practices honor the most critical elements: the performers and the audience. This fusion also underscores Volvo Cars’ leadership in technology and human experience and aligns with its vision of harmonious coexistence with nature, fostering a sustainable future.

While the EC40 paves the way for future pure electric models, the transition from internal combustion engines to pure electric vehicles entails more than just a shift in manufacturing; it involves changing consumer habits as well. In this regard, Volvo Cars’ Plug-in hybrid models serve as a necessary stepping stone towards this long-term vision. In Vietnam, Volvo Cars is the only luxury brand with a complete Plug-in Hybrid collection, including the 7-seat SUV XC90, 5-seat SUV XC60, and the S90 sedan. The Plug-in Hybrid range offers flexible switching between gasoline, hybrid, and pure electric modes, delivering exceptional fuel efficiency, environmental protection, and robust performance.

During this event, Volvo Car Vietnam also announced a special program for EC40 buyers, including an extended 5-year warranty (8 years or 160,000km for the battery, whichever comes first), a 3-year free maintenance package, and a complimentary 7kW charger (including installation).

On November 16 and 17, the “Recharge to Shine” journey continued with a captivating exhibition about Volvo and two nights of artistic performances featuring leading artists. The November 16 concert, “Your Journey – Our Story,” witnessed Diva Hong Nhung and saxophonist Quyen Thien Dac sharing the stage, intertwining Volvo’s “Save my life” stories. Meanwhile, the November 17 concert, “Accompany – Sustainability,” concluded the event series on a high note, with mesmerizing performances by Diva My Linh and musician Anh Quan’s band, complemented by memorable stories from Volvo Car Vietnam’s loyal customers. This event series resonates as a symphony, a promise, and a commitment from Volvo towards a journey of companionship and sustainability.

The showcased Volvo models included: Volvo EC40, Volvo XC90 Plug-in Hybrid Ultra, Volvo S90 Plug-in Hybrid Ultra, and Volvo XC60 Plug-in Hybrid Ultra.
