Maruti Suzuki has unveiled the fourth generation of the Dzire in India. Unlike its predecessors, this compact sedan bears no resemblance to the Swift hatchback it’s based on and instead sports a style of its own, making it more sporty and distinctive.
The Suzuki Dzire measures 3,995 mm in length with a 2,450 mm wheelbase, identical figures to the previous model. Up front, the angular LED headlights and larger grille give the car a more serious appearance, shedding the cutesy traits of the Swift hatchback.

While the proportions still look odd, as is the case with most subcompact sedans, the base model’s 14-inch steel wheels don’t do it any favors. However, the higher trimssection utilizes 15-inch alloy wheels. The short rear overhang features boxy taillights and an integrated spoiler, doing its best to look rugged.
The interior dashboard closely resembles the Swift, although there are a few tweaks in the trim, including faux wood accents.
The analog instrument cluster is paired with a 9-inch infotainment system, compatible with wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay connectivity.
Higher-spec models also come with automatic A/C, a 360-degree camera, wireless charging pad, electric sunroof, and Suzuki Connect features. The boot space is 382 liters, which doesn’t sound like much but is 117 liters more than the Swift.
In terms of safety, the Dzire is the first Maruti Suzuki to achieve a five-star rating in the Global NCAP test. All variants come standard with six airbags, Electronic Stability Control, and pedestrian protection.
Like the closely related Swift, the new Dzire utilizes the tried-and-tested Heartect platform. Under the hood is a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated three-cylinder engine producing 80 hp when running on petrol or 69 hp in the CNG version. The engine can be mated to a 5-speed manual or 5-speed automatic transmission, sending power to the front wheels.
The Suzuki Dzire is now available for order in India, with prices ranging from 6.79 INR ($8,000) to 10.14 INR ($12,000), which is approximately VND 190 million to VND 283 million. Rivals in the subcompact sedan segment include the upcoming next-generation Honda Amaze, Hyundai Aura, and Tata Tigor.
