According to car dealership consultants, the BYD Tang has arrived at dealerships and is ready for delivery to domestic customers.

This 7-seat SUV has been renamed the Tan EV, despite previous statements from the brand that it would retain the original name used in foreign markets.

Dealerships have announced that the Tan EV is priced at 1.569 billion VND in the Vietnamese market. This price was revealed last month when BYD launched two other models, the BYD M6 and BYD Han.

Fitting into the D-segment SUV category, the BYD Tan is similar in size to the Mazda CX-8, Hyundai Santa Fe, and Kia Sorento. It measures 4,870 mm in length, 1,950 mm in width, and 1,725 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,820 mm.

Like many other BYD models, the Tan EV sports the Dragon Face design language, emphasizing dynamism and minimalism. It features sleek LED headlights with surrounding LED daytime running lights and substantial silver trim. As an electric vehicle, the BYD Tan does not have a grille. At the rear, the Chinese SUV boasts sleek LED taillights that stretch across the width of the vehicle, a roof spoiler with an integrated high-mounted brake light, and two horizontal reflectors on the rear bumper.

The BYD Tan EV sold in Vietnam is equipped with two electric motors, with the front motor producing 241 horsepower and the rear motor generating 268 horsepower. These are paired with a 108.8 kWh battery pack, offering an impressive range of approximately 635 km.

The price of the BYD Tan EV, at 1.569 billion VND, is considered higher compared to many familiar D-segment SUV/CUV competitors in Vietnam, such as the Ford Everest (1.099 – 1.545 billion VND), Hyundai Santa Fe (1.069 – 1.365 billion VND), or Toyota Fortuner (1.055 – 1.362 billion VND). Additionally, brand reputation and charging infrastructure are factors that potential customers may consider when deciding to purchase this vehicle.
