MG is planning to expand its global lineup with the addition of a new seven-seater SUV, tentatively named the MG QS, by 2025.
The MG QS is expected to offer modern amenities and competitive pricing to rival the likes of the Hyundai Palisade, Kia Telluride, and Toyota Highlander.
The MG QS is likely to be developed based on the platform of the Roewe RX9, a large SUV collaboratively developed by MG’s parent company and Roewe.
In the Middle East, MG also offers a large SUV named the MG RX9, which shares the same exterior design as the Roewe but with slightly different interior styling.
Based on the Roewe RX9, the MG QS is expected to have dimensions of 4,983 mm in length, 1,967 mm in width, 1,786 mm in height, and a wheelbase of 2,915 mm.
Powering the MG QS is expected to be a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine producing 239 horsepower and 392 Nm of torque. The engine will likely be paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive as standard, with all-wheel drive as an option.
In the future, the MG QS may also offer hybrid or plug-in hybrid powertrains.
The new MG SUV is expected to be unveiled by the end of 2025.
