The upcoming third-generation Mercedes-Benz CLA, slated for release next year, will be developed based on the MMA platform and offer a remarkable five powertrain options.
In a recent announcement, Mercedes-Benz revealed that the CLA third generation will be the first model built on the Mercedes-Benz Modular Architecture (MMA). This scalable platform will also underpin three other models from the brand, including a shooting brake and two SUVs.
The new-generation CLA will boast five distinct powertrain choices, including two all-electric and three hybrid variants.
The all-electric versions feature the latest Electric Drive Unit (EDU 2.0). The standard model delivers 268 horsepower to the rear wheels through a two-speed transmission. The higher-end variant adds a front-axle motor producing 107 horsepower, coupled with Mercedes’ 4Matic all-wheel drive system.
Built on an 800V architecture, the electric CLA supports fast DC charging at up to 320kWh. Its 85 kWh battery pack offers an impressive range of up to 750 kilometers on a single charge, as per the WLTP cycle.
The hybrid versions are powered by a new 1.5L M252 engine, delivering 134, 161, or 188 horsepower. These are complemented by an integrated electric motor within the 8-speed dual-clutch transmission, adding 27 horsepower. Both front-wheel and all-wheel drive configurations are available.
The new Mercedes-Benz CLA is expected to make its official debut next year. Currently, the four-door CLA Coupe is available in the US market, priced at $45,550 (approximately 1.158 billion VND).
