At the ongoing Los Angeles Auto Show 2024 in the US, Kia has officially unveiled the EV9 GT. This is the most premium and powerful version of the flagship electric CUV from South Korea.
The highlight of the Kia EV9 GT is its powerful all-electric powertrain, featuring dual motors that deliver a combined output of 501 horsepower. The front motor generates 214 hp, while the rear motor produces an impressive 362 hp. This setup enables the EV9 GT to sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.4 seconds, a remarkable feat for a large CUV.
To optimize the performance of this powertrain, Kia has equipped the EV9 GT with an electronically controlled suspension system that can be adjusted to suit the driving and braking modes. In addition to the normal driving modes such as Normal, Eco, and Sport, the vehicle also features a GT sport mode, activated by a green button on the dashboard. This mode unleashes the full power of the CUV and stiffens the suspension for a more dynamic driving experience. Kia has also included an electronic limited-slip differential to improve cornering traction.
Similar to the Hyundai Ioniq 5N, the Kia EV9 GT 2025 will offer a virtual gear shift feature with paddle shifters and an engine sound simulator. This combination provides an exhilarating driving experience akin to that of a conventional sports car.
While Kia has not yet released official range figures for the EV9 GT, they have confirmed that the vehicle will feature NACS charging ports and support DC fast charging, enabling a charge from 10% to 80% in under 25 minutes.
The exterior of the EV9 GT remains similar to the standard versions, except for the active air flaps in the front bumper, 21-inch alloy wheels (19-inch on the standard model), and eye-catching green-painted sport brake calipers. The interior boasts sports seats trimmed in Alcantara, ambient lighting, and GT logos strategically placed throughout.
Pricing for the Kia EV9 GT 2025 has not been announced yet. The vehicle will be produced in South Korea and is expected to arrive at US dealerships in the second half of next year.
