The mid-life upgrade of the Kia EV6 gets a subtle design refresh, enhanced interior equipment, and an upgraded powertrain.
At the 2024 Los Angeles Auto Show, Kia attracted attention with the US debut of the 2025 EV6. This marks the mid-life upgrade of the first-generation EV6, which was first introduced in South Korea back in May this year.
The new Kia EV6 has an overall length of 4,695 mm, which is 15 mm longer than its predecessor. The other dimensions remain unchanged, including a width of 1,890 mm, a height of 1,550 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,900 mm.
The 2025 EV6 features a subtle design change with new LED adaptive ‘Star Map’ headlights and a more angular front bumper. The rear of the CUV remains largely unchanged, but now includes a full-width LED light bar that connects the taillights.
Inside, the 2025 EV6 boasts a new curved digital cockpit with a 12.3-inch dual-screen setup. It also features a new steering wheel and center console design. Kia has also improved the sound insulation in this model.
The Kia EV6 2025 is offered with four powertrain configurations, with the most notable being the high-performance GT version. As the new range-topping model, the EV6 GT is equipped with two electric motors that produce a combined output of 601 horsepower, an increase of 65 horsepower over the previous version. When the GT function button is activated, the output temporarily increases to 645 horsepower.
Detailed engine specifications for the US market are as follows:
Similar to the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, the EV9 GT 2025 features Virtual Gear Shift and an engine sound simulation system, providing a sporty driving experience akin to that of a combustion engine.
The 2025 EV6 offers two battery options with capacities of 63 kWh and 84 kWh, a significant increase over the previous model. The maximum range achievable is an impressive 513 km. It supports NACS charging and fast DC charging, capable of charging from 10% to 80% in less than 25 minutes.
The US-market Kia EV6 will be assembled at the company’s plant in Georgia, while the GT version will be built in South Korea. Pricing for the US market has not been announced yet, but in its home market of South Korea, the EV6 starts at $40,500, which is approximately 1.03 billion VND.
