In a recent development, Ford has filed a lawsuit against Vintage Modern, alleging intellectual property rights infringement by modifying modern Bronco vehicles into classic versions.

Ford accuses Vintage Modern of making unauthorized modifications to the Bronco’s design, potentially confusing customers about the origin of the vehicles.

The lawsuit was filed in a Northern Georgia district court on Halloween, and Ford has requested a jury trial.

Ford representatives argue that Vintage Broncos’ alterations and reselling of new Ford Broncos as “classic” vehicles mislead customers and tarnish Ford’s brand value.

However, Vintage Modern defends their practice, stating that they only “refresh” modern Broncos with a classic touch while retaining the original safety and convenience features.

Vintage Modern asserts that the Broncos they work on maintain modern amenities such as air conditioning, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, traction and stability control, and rearview cameras.

In essence, the Broncos retain their modern features but are wrapped in a classic exterior.

The vintage car modifier, Vintage Modern, has tried to distance themselves from Ford, stating that they are not sponsored, affiliated, approved, or endorsed by any automobile company, including Ford Motor Company.”

The outcome of this lawsuit remains to be seen, but legal experts suggest it is a complex case. The final verdict will likely depend on the court’s assessment of the similarity between Vintage Modern’s designs and Ford’s original.
