Audi has officially unveiled the new Q5 Sportback, just three months after introducing the regular Q5 SUV.
Audi Q5Â Sportback 2025 boasts an SUV-coupe design, targeting customers who favor a sporty and bold style.
The exterior design is sleeker and more modern than its predecessor. The most notable change in the new generation is the advanced exterior lighting, including second-generation digital OLED taillights with customizable lighting signatures and LED matrix headlights with 8 customizable DRLs.
At the rear, the Q5 Sportback‘s taillights retain a similar design to the SUV version, but the roofline is lowered towards the trunk, giving it a sportier appearance. However, this comes at the cost of reduced practicality, as the cargo space now offers 515 liters, expandable to 1,415 liters with the rear seats folded – 58 liters less than the Q5 SUV.
Audi Q5 Sportback is available in two variants: S Line and SQ5, with subtle differences in their exterior styling. The S Line features Anthracite matte accents, while the SQ5 stands out with Silver matte finishings. Another distinguishing feature is their exhaust systems; the Q5 Sportback S Line has a single exhaust on each side, while the SQ5 boasts a sportier dual-round setup.
Inside, the 2025 Audi Q5 Sportback boasts a tech-filled cabin with a 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.5-inch central touchscreen, and an optional 10.9-inch passenger screen. The brand with four rings also showcases its commitment to sustainability by incorporating recycled materials such as Cascade fabric and Dinamica fiber in the SUV’s interior.
The Q5 Sportback shares the Premium Platform Combustion (PPC) architecture with the Q5 and A5. It currently offers three engine options and is expected to introduce a PHEV variant soon. The first is a mild-hybrid 2.0 TFSI gasoline engine producing 201 hp and 340 Nm of torque, aided by a 24 hp electric motor. The second is a 2.0 TDI diesel engine with identical power but 60 Nm more torque. Both variants have a modest battery capacity of just 1.7 kWh.
Lastly, the high-performance SQ5 variant is equipped with a 3.0L 6-cylinder engine, generating 362 hp, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and quattro all-wheel drive.
The Audi Q5 Sportback will go on sale in Europe from December 2024, with a starting price of €54,800 (approximately $57,900) for the base model in Germany. The SQ5 Sportback is priced at €85,400 (around $89,000). Both versions are €2,500 (approximately $2,600) more expensive than their Q5 SUV counterparts. Key competitors include the BMW X4, Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe, and Range Rover Velar.
