All eyes were on the Koenigsegg CCX hypercar over the past two days as it was finally registered in Vietnam, bearing the plate number 15A-697.79. This marks the third hypercar in the country to be fully taxed and legally driven on the roads.

A keen eye would notice that this Koenigsegg CCX is slightly different from when it first arrived in the country. Specifically, it now sports a new set of wheels. The original model, of which only 30 were produced worldwide, featured a set of single-tone, 11-spoke dark wheels with carbon surfaces.

The owner of this Koenigsegg CCX hypercar decided to swap out the original wheels for a set of Forged Lightweight wheels with a 9-spoke design from the CCXR model. This change gives the car a more aggressive stance and a unique look.

It is reported that during the wheel change, two technicians from Koenigsegg, who were in Vietnam to service and repair the Koenigsegg Regera owned by Hoang Kim Khanh, almost broke the lug nuts on the original wheels.

The Koenigsegg CCX was first unveiled at the 2006 Geneva Motor Show. The name CCX stands for Competition Coupé X, with X commemorating the 10th anniversary (X being the Roman numeral for ten) of the completion and test drive of the first CC prototype in 1996.

Koenigsegg made some modifications to the CCX’s body to comply with US vehicle regulations and developed a new 4.7-liter V8 engine with twin turbochargers. This engine produces a maximum output of 806 horsepower at 7,000 rpm and 920 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm when running on 91-octane gasoline.

Paired with a 6-speed manual transmission and rear-wheel drive, the Koenigsegg CCX can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 3 seconds and reach a top speed of 402 km/h. These figures are very impressive for a relatively young supercar manufacturer.

One of the interesting features of the Koenigsegg CCX, and Koenigsegg models in general, is their scissor doors that slide forward instead of swinging upwards like the Lamborghini Murcielago or Aventador.

Another surprising detail about the Koenigsegg CCX is that it is a hybrid between a coupe and a convertible. The roof of the car can be removed and stored manually in the front luggage compartment. The process of removing and storing the roof is just as intricate and laborious as the process of putting it back on.

The Koenigsegg CCX was produced from 2006 to 2010, with a total production run of 49 units. This includes 29 standard CCX models (30 were produced, but one was destroyed), 9 CCXR models, 6 CCX/CCXR Edition models, 2 CCXR Special Edition models, and the famous pair of Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita models.
