When it comes to the largest, most diverse, and expansive car collection in the world, one name that often tops the list is that of Hassanal Bolkiah, the Sultan of Brunei. According to various sources, the Royal Family of Brunei is believed to own an astonishing 7,000 automobiles, including a vast array of Ferraris—ranging from limited editions to rare models. Even their more common vehicles are typically customized, setting them apart from the rest.

Recently, the Sultan’s garage once again made headlines around the globe as details emerged about each car in his collection. Among them was a yellow Ferrari F50, arguably the most mysterious Ferrari F50 in existence.

Nestled among a fleet of aggressively-colored yellow cars, this particular Ferrari F50 stands out with its exquisite design. What’s more, it features a rare red interior, a unique choice at the time of its release. Of course, being a left-hand drive vehicle, it suits the Sultan’s needs perfectly.

One of only 349 Ferrari F50s ever produced between 1995 and 1997, this supercar was initially considered inferior to its predecessor, the F40, upon its release in the 90s. However, today, the F50 is revered as one of the most legendary sports cars to bear the Ferrari name.

Ferrari entrusted the renowned Italian design firm Pininfarina with the task of shaping the F50, the successor to the iconic F40. This was no easy feat, as the F50 was created to commemorate Ferrari’s 50th anniversary, hence its name.

The Ferrari F50’s exterior design builds on the foundation laid by the F40, but with more striking lines and the addition of a removable hardtop. Under the hood, the F50 boasts a naturally aspirated 4.7L V12 engine derived from Formula 1 racing, producing a staggering 513 horsepower and 471 Nm of torque. This power is delivered to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission, propelling the car from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds and on to a top speed of over 320 km/h.
