Honda Vietnam is offering attractive promotions on a range of models, including the CR-V, City, HR-V, BR-V, and Accord, for the months of December 2024 and January 2025. While the Honda City, HR-V, and BR-V trio benefit from a 50% reduction in registration fees, the Accord receives an increased cash discount.
Honda Accord buyers will receive a substantial cash discount of 250 million VND. This brings the post-promotion price of this D-segment sedan down to just 1.069 billion VND.
Compared to the promotions Honda has been offering on the Accord for the past eight months, the discount for the upcoming Lunar New Year period has increased by 30 million VND. This seems to be an effort by Honda to boost sales and clear inventory for the Accord.
The Honda promotion will be valid for customers who sign a purchase contract and complete the full payment between December 6, 2024, and January 28, 2025.
With the promotional price of 1.069 billion VND, the Honda Accord is significantly more affordable than its direct competitor, the Toyota Camry (priced at 1.22 – 1.53 billion VND). However, it still carries a higher price tag compared to the Mazda6 (779 – 914 million VND) and the Kia K5 (859 – 999 million VND).
Despite the generous promotions, the Honda Accord has seen modest sales figures. In October 2024, only four units were sold in Vietnam, a 50% decrease. The cumulative sales for the first ten months of 2024 stand at just 69 vehicles, making it one of the slowest-selling models in the Vietnamese market.
The Accord’s challenges lie in its high sticker price of 1.319 billion VND and the fact that only one version is available, limiting customer choices. Additionally, the model hasn’t received any significant design or feature upgrades recently, and the decline in popularity of the D-segment sedans has also impacted its sales performance.
On the upside, the Honda Accord boasts undeniable strengths, such as its spacious interior and highly-regarded driving dynamics. The Vietnamese-spec Accord is powered by a 1.5L turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 188 horsepower and 260 Nm of torque. This is paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) and offers two driving modes: Eco and Sport.
While the new-generation Honda Accord has been introduced in various global markets, it remains uncertain if and when this updated model will make its way to Vietnam.
