In a bold move, Jaguar has unveiled its new concept car, the Type 00 Concept, following its brand repositioning.
According to Jaguar, the Type 00 is a preview of an upcoming Grand Tourer with four doors, expected to launch in late 2025. Built on the dedicated electric platform, Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA), the upcoming vehicle will offer an impressive range of up to 770 kilometers on the WLTP cycle. Jaguar claims that a 15-minute quick charge will provide a range of 321 kilometers.
The Type 00’s design showcases a futuristic approach with sharp, angular lines, marking a significant departure from Jaguar’s iconic design language seen in legendary models like the D-Type, E-Type, and F-Type.
One of the most notable features at the front is the new Jaguar logo, placed on a simulated grille. This change has sparked controversy as it eliminates the iconic jaguar symbol.
The car’s body has a fastback design with a sloping roofline and an elongated front, complemented by massive 23-inch wheels. Instead of traditional side mirrors, it employs digital mirrors that can be retracted into the body.
The rear of the car showcases unique creativity with the complete absence of a windshield, combined with a “Strikethrough” boat-tail design. It also features ultra-slim LED taillights that echo the front-end design.
Inside, the car boasts two large screens, one on each side of the seats, which can be hidden when not in use. A 3.2-meter-long “spine” runs down the center, dividing the cabin into two distinct halves. In a sustainable approach, the GT features interior details made from stone and woven fabric, while wood and leather, previously common in Jaguar cars, have been eliminated.
As part of Jaguar’s new strategy, the British brand is elevating its position to the ultra-luxury segment, aiming to compete with the likes of Bentley, Porsche, and Maserati.
The new concept will make its debut at Art Week Miami 2024, which is taking place this weekend. Following its launch, the production version of the Type 00 will go head-to-head with the Porsche Taycan.
