On the evening of December 5, 2024, the official launch event for the McLaren Artura Spider supercar took place, attended by over 100 guests. And you might be curious as to what supercars these individuals arrived in.
From luxury sedans to SUVs and supercars, Vietnam’s elite pulled out all the stops when attending the McLaren Artura Spider launch event. But the most impressive sight was the lineup of approximately five McLaren cars parked outside the McLaren Vietnam dealership.
One of the highlights of the event was the presence of the McLaren 750S Spider, which was displayed outside the showroom from the afternoon to greet guests. As the evening progressed, a series of McLaren supercars arrived, including the McLaren GT—only two of which exist in Vietnam. Both of these rare cars made an appearance at the Artura Spider launch. The orange McLaren GT is a company-authorized distribution model, while the white one is the first of its kind in the country, imported through unofficial channels.
The McLaren GT is a unique offering from the automaker, featuring not one but two luggage compartments, offering a total storage space of 570 liters. The front compartment provides 150 liters of space, suitable for a medium-sized suitcase, a briefcase, or personal items. Meanwhile, the rear cabin boasts an impressive 420 liters, ample room for a large and small suitcase or even a set of golf clubs.
Under the hood, the McLaren GT packs a punch with its 4.0-liter, twin-turbocharged V8 engine, delivering a maximum output of 620 horsepower and a peak torque of 630 Nm between 5,500 and 6,500 rpm. This powerful engine is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, enabling the Grand Tourer to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds, reaching a top speed of 326 km/h.
Adding to the spectacle were two more McLaren supercars: the McLaren 650S Spider Liberty Walk edition and the McLaren 720S N-Largo by Novitec. The latter is a true rarity, with only 15 N-Largo body kits produced globally by Novitec using Forged Carbon Fiber, an expensive material that gives the car a bold and aggressive look. The McLaren 720S N-Largo is powered by a V8, twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter engine, generating an impressive 710 horsepower and 770 Nm of torque. Combined with a 7-speed SSG dual-clutch transmission, this supercar can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds and decelerate from 100 to 0 km/h in 2.8 seconds. It has a top speed of 341 km/h. The McLaren 720S N-Largo is also equipped with a Frequency Intelligent Exhaust system, boosting engine power by an additional 8%.
The McLaren 650S Spider Liberty Walk edition is another stunning creation, sacrificing the car’s original body to don a wide-body kit from the Japanese tuner. The Liberty Walk treatment includes cutting and widening the wheel arches, fixing them in place with prominent rivets. One of the biggest challenges in this transformation is ensuring that the retractable hardtop functions smoothly despite the modifications. To achieve this, the Japanese tuner had to carefully recalculate and adjust the position of the rear spoiler. The Liberty Walk package also includes a large carbon fiber front bumper, carbon fiber interior accents, and a massive fixed rear wing and rear bumper, both crafted from carbon fiber. This McLaren 650S Spider is also fitted with a range of Liberty Walk accessories, including oversized Forgiato wheels, Air Rex air suspension, and a FI exhaust system.
At its heart, the McLaren 650S Spider boasts a 3.8-liter, twin-turbocharged V8 engine, producing a maximum output of 641 horsepower. This powerplant is mated to a 7-speed automatic dual-clutch transmission and a rear-wheel drive system, enabling the supercar to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3 seconds and reach a top speed of 328 km/h.
