The Shelby name has long been synonymous with building some of the most powerful Ford Mustangs on the planet. So, when a GM dealership in Kansas, a state in the Midwestern US, offered two ultra-low-mileage Shelby GT500 KR, it quickly garnered special attention. The reason? These cars were produced 16 years ago.

Specifically, both of these 2008 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 KR cars have just arrived at Eddy’s Chevrolet Cadillac in Wichita. They’re not cheap, but who knows how eager collectors will be to snap them up.

The most affordable of the two is painted in silver with blue racing stripes and is listed at $79,794. It has only clocked 103 miles, which means its 5.4-liter supercharged V8 engine is barely broken in. With such low mileage, it’s no surprise that it looks almost brand new, with hardly any signs of wear and tear on the exterior, inside the cabin, or under the hood.

The second GT500 KR is even more extraordinary. This car has had only one owner since it rolled off the assembly line and has a mere 51 miles on the clock.

It sports a bolder look with its bright blue paint and white racing stripes. What’s more, it still has the plastic on the seats and the original stickers on the steering wheel badge and the small infotainment screen, hence the price tag of $92,887.

Are these cars worth the asking price? Well, only 1,011 GT500 KR models were produced in 2008, making them extremely rare. However, a quick online search reveals that you can buy a 2020 or 2021 Shelby GT500 for between $80,000 and $90,000.

The 2020 models are undoubtedly far more modern than the 2008 version and come loaded with advanced technology, not to mention they’re far more powerful. While the 2008 GT500 KR turned heads with its 540 horsepower, the newer GT500 boasts a staggering 760 horsepower and 625 lb-ft of torque, taking it to a whole new level of performance.

So, which would you choose? The 2008 GT500 KR, brimming with nostalgia and rarity, or the newer, more powerful, and technologically advanced Shelby GT500?
