Mercedes-AMG Teases High-Performance Electric SUV with Arctic Testing Snapshot

In a recent reveal, Mercedes-AMG shared a sneak peek of their upcoming high-performance electric SUV, currently undergoing testing in the Arctic.

Built on the AMG.EA platform, this SUV marks a significant milestone as the first all-electric vehicle crafted entirely by AMG, embodying their core high-performance DNA.

Scheduled for its official launch in 2026, this electric powerhouse will go head-to-head with rivals such as the BMW XM and Lamborghini Urus SE.

Despite heavy camouflage, observant eyes can spot similarities with the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door EV. The new SUV boasts a long hood, prominent character lines, and a roofline that slopes gracefully towards the rear.

While its dimensions are comparable to the current GLS model, its design stands apart from Mercedes’ existing EQ lineup. Additionally, it sits lower to the ground than traditional SUVs, enhancing its aerodynamic profile.

Under the hood, or rather, under the floor, lies a formidable powertrain comprising four electric motors, expected to generate a combined output of over 1,000 horsepower. Complementing this setup are an advanced all-wheel-drive system, torque vectoring technology, four-wheel steering, an active suspension system, and a high-performance AMG-exclusive battery.

Beyond sheer performance, this SUV is also designed with efficiency in mind. At higher speeds, it automatically lowers its ride height to improve aerodynamics, resulting in enhanced range and a smoother ride.

Although Mercedes-AMG has not disclosed the battery capacity, we anticipate an improvement in performance and range compared to the NMC batteries currently used in their electric AMG models.
