The Vietnam Motor Show 2024 (VMS 2024) is coming to an end. After almost 5 days of welcoming visitors, VMS 2024 will close at 9 pm on October 27.
This year, VMS 2024 lacked the presence of luxury car brands, but the exhibition still attracted visitors thanks to electric and hybrid vehicles, two-wheeler brands, and a series of interesting side stories.
Selling Cars in the Parking Lot
During VMS 2024, visitors were surprised to see some cars with โfor saleโ advertisements in the parking lot.
According to Tri Thแปฉc โ Znews, these cars belonged to private showrooms near the VMS 2024 venue. Through exchanges, a showroom representative shared that they accept consignment and sell various car models, mainly luxury ones.
Some of the cars sold in the VMS 2024 parking lot include the Kia Carnival, Mercedes-Benz C180 AMG, Mercedes-Benz E200, and Chevrolet Camaroโฆ
When asked if anyone had contacted them to purchase a car at VMS 2024, the showroom representative declined to answer.
Stripping Down Cars for Display
In the exhibition area of VMS 2024, MG displayed the MG7 car frame for visitors to admire.
This allowed visitors to observe the locations of the steel reinforcements in the body of the newly launched D-segment sedan.
MG was one of the two brands that โstripped downโ their vehicles for visitors to admire.
The other brand was BYD. The Chinese automaker continued to introduce the e-Platform 3.0 framework, the platform on which BYD builds its current products.
This was not the first time BYD introduced the e-Platform 3.0. Previously, at the brand launch in mid-July, BYD exhibited this model along with the Blade battery model, which the company independently developed.
Exciting Test Drive Events
Within the SECC premises where VMS 2024 took place, brands like Honda, Yamaha, and Subaru set up test drive circuits or performance displays for visitors.
In Hondaโs test drive area, the Japanese brand allocated two separate zones, one for conventional two-wheelers and the other for large-displacement motorcycles.
Yamaha followed a similar approach, with a display area for large-displacement motorcycles and a beautifully decorated track for small-displacement two-wheelers.
Subaru prepared off-road test drive experiences for its customers. The diverse test drive circuits in the Subaru area included steep slopes, inclined slopes, and bumpy roads.
Other car brands at VMS 2024, such as MG, Mitsubishi, Honda, Isuzu, and BYD, also had test drive sign-up counters for visitors. However, these brands did not set up test drive circuits, opting instead to let customers test drive the vehicles around the VMS 2024 venue.
Most of the event took place during the day, when the weather was hot, but visitors still waited patiently to experience the vehicles.
Test drives were also held excitingly in the surrounding areas, mainly organized by brands that did not participate in VMS 2024, such as Omoda, VinFast, and Ford.
Among these, Omoda is a brand under the Chery group, which will introduce the Vietnamese market to its first model, the Omoda C5. Recently, Omoda announced that this B-segment SUV has started receiving deposits in Vietnam.
Additionally, a BYD dealership in the southern region also organized a separate test drive event at a location not far from VMS 2024.
Number Plate Auction at VMS 2024
The indoor exhibition area of VMS 2024 featured a booth from VPA, the organization responsible for auctioning car license plates in Vietnam.
Sharing with Tri Thแปฉc โ Znews, a VPA representative at the VMS 2024 exhibition shared that they would support visitors in opening auction accounts and conducting auctions at the event if requested.
Finalizing Deals at the Exhibition
At VMS 2024, sales consulting activities were quite vibrant, with many consultants successfully closing deals with visitors during the event.
The screens at the brandsโ exhibition areas continuously displayed information about customers who had successfully placed deposits for vehicles.
A BYD sales consultant shared that a customer had placed a deposit for the YangWang U8 at VMS 2024, even though the exact price and launch date of this large-size off-road SUV in Vietnam were not yet clear.
โMost customers have already researched the car beforehand and come to VMS to place a deposit to enjoy additional benefits,โ shared a sales consultant from a Japanese brand with Tri Thแปฉc โ Znews.
Mobihome Display
Many VMS 2024 visitors found it interesting to see a mobihome parked next to the test drive areas of Honda, Yamaha, and Subaru.
According to Mr. Thanh Tuan, a representative of iLux Mobihome, this vehicle is based on the 16-seat GAZ model. The price of the mobihome is 1.318 billion VND.
This is one of three GAZ Home models from iLux Mobihome. The vehicle is fully equipped to meet daily living needs, featuring a TV, refrigerator, kitchen, bathroom, electrical outlets, and bedsโฆ
The GAZ Home is also equipped with a battery pack ranging from 7.6 kWh to a maximum of 20 kWh to power the on-board equipment. According to the manufacturer, the battery can support daily living needs for about two days.
The vehicle also has a 300-liter clean water tank and two wastewater tanks, each with a capacity of 150 liters.
Overall, the side stories and activities made VMS 2024 more interesting and attracted many visitors. On the last day of the exhibition, there was heavy rain in Ho Chi Minh City, but visitors still arrived in large numbers.
The VMS 2024 exhibition will continue to welcome visitors until 9 pm on October 27.
