C-segment SUV Sales Table for Nov 2024 (units: vehicles)
Mazda CX-5: 2,408 units sold
Mazda CX-5 maintained its strong performance in November 2024, topping the C-segment SUV sales chart. With 2,408 units sold, the Mazda model witnessed a growth rate of 19.9%. This made the CX-5 the best-selling vehicle for the Mazda brand in Vietnam. It also ranked second in the overall market, just behind the Mitsubishi Xpander.
Mazda CX-5
The impressive performance of the CX-5 can be attributed to the government’s policy of supporting 50% of the registration fee for domestically produced and assembled cars during November 2024. Additionally, the CX-5’s affordable price range, starting from VND 749 million to VND 979 million for seven different versions, also contributed to its success. Its eye-catching design, along with a full range of convenience and safety features, further solidified its position in the market.
The Mazda CX-5 offers two gasoline engine options: a 2.0L and a 2.5L, delivering 154 horsepower/200 Nm and 188 horsepower/252 Nm, respectively. The engines are paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and either front-wheel or all-wheel drive.
Hyundai Tucson: 1,584 units sold
As mentioned earlier, the Hyundai Tucson stood out with the highest growth rate among C-segment SUVs in Vietnam during November 2024. Its sales soared by 183.8% to 1,584 units, propelling it to second place in the segment, surpassing both the Ford Territory and the Honda CR-V.
Hyundai Tucson
The introduction of an upgraded version of the Hyundai Tucson in the Vietnamese market, coupled with the government’s support for registration fees, contributed to its remarkable success. The upgraded Tucson offers four versions, priced between VND 769 million and VND 979 million. For this price, customers acquire a C-segment SUV with enhanced design and features, including a redesigned grille, LED daytime running lights, front and rear bumpers, alloy wheels, a curved display that combines a digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch central touchscreen, and a three-spoke steering wheel with a gearshift knob.
Under the hood, the Hyundai Tucson offers three engine options: the Smartstream 2.0l MPI gasoline engine, the Smartstream Diesel D2.0 engine, and the Smartstream 1.6L T-GDi turbocharged gasoline engine. These engines deliver 156 horsepower/192 Nm, 186 horsepower/416 Nm, and 180 horsepower/265 Nm, respectively. They are paired with either a 6-speed automatic, an 8-speed automatic, or a 7-speed DCT transmission.
Ford Territory: 1,256 units sold
Hyundai Tucson’s impressive performance pushed the Ford Territory to third place in the C-segment SUV category. Similar to its competitors, the Ford Territory also experienced sales growth, with 1,256 units sold, representing a 7% increase compared to the previous month.
Ford Territory
The Ford Territory, being domestically produced and assembled, also benefited from the government’s registration fee support policy in November 2024. From December 1st, Ford adjusted the Territory’s price range to VND 759 million to VND 889 million. With this competitive pricing, the Ford Territory is now one of the most affordable options in the C-segment SUV market in Vietnam, which is expected to further boost its sales performance in the coming months.
In addition to its attractive price point, the Ford Territory boasts a modern and imposing design, spacious interior, and a plethora of convenience and safety features. It is powered by a 1.5L EcoBoost 4-cylinder gasoline engine that delivers 160 horsepower and 248 Nm of torque, paired with a 7-speed automatic transmission.
Honda CR-V: 1,217 units sold
Ranking fourth in the C-segment SUV category is the Honda CR-V, with a total of 1,217 units sold in November 2024, representing a growth rate of 41.6%. Among these, 196 units were the hybrid version.
Honda CR-V
Following the expiration of the government’s registration fee incentive program on December 1st, 2024, Honda introduced a new promotional program for the CR-V. From December 16th to January 28th, 2025, Vietnamese customers can purchase the Honda CR-V at a starting price of just over VND 900 million. Currently, the Honda CR-V is available in four versions, with a starting price of VND 1.029 billion. However, the number of CR-Vs offered at the promotional price will be limited.
The Honda CR-V is the most expensive model in the mainstream C-segment SUV market, with prices ranging from VND 1.029 billion to VND 1.259 billion. This higher price tag is justified by its eye-catching design and comprehensive features. Notably, it is one of the few C-segment SUVs to offer a hybrid engine option.
Specifically, the Honda CR-V e:HEV RS is equipped with a 2.0L 4-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 146 horsepower, combined with two electric motors for a total output of 181 horsepower. The total power output of this hybrid system is 204 horsepower and 335 Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the other three versions of the Honda CR-V are powered by a 1.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder gasoline engine that delivers 188 horsepower and 240 Nm of torque. These versions are paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) and either front-wheel or all-wheel drive.
Kia Sportage: 502 units sold
November 2024 marked a positive sales month for the Kia Sportage, with a 12% growth rate, resulting in 502 units sold. However, its ranking within the C-segment SUV category remains unchanged.
Kia Sportage
Since its launch in Vietnam, the current generation Kia Sportage has failed to impress in terms of sales figures. This can be attributed to its less appealing design and pricing strategy. The Kia Sportage is available in eight versions, with prices ranging from VND 779 million to VND 999 million.
Under the hood, the Kia Sportage offers the same three engine options as the Hyundai Tucson, which is not surprising given that they are both produced by the Hyundai Motor Group.
Mitsubishi Outlander: 155 units sold
The Mitsubishi Outlander maintained its position as the last-ranked model in the C-segment SUV category, with 155 units sold in November, representing a growth rate of 68.4%.
Mitsubishi Outlander
The Mitsubishi Outlander is currently available in two versions, with prices ranging from VND 825 million to VND 950 million. Its relatively high price, coupled with the lack of recent design and feature upgrades, has been a weakness for the Mitsubishi model. To counter this, Mitsubishi has been offering various promotional programs for the Outlander each month.
In December 2024, Mitsubishi is providing a 50% support on the registration fee, along with a VND 10 million fuel voucher and a 360-degree camera for the CVT version. The total value of these incentives for the Outlander CVT amounts to VND 71 million.
The Mitsubishi Outlander is powered by a 2.0L MIVEC 4-cylinder gasoline engine that delivers 145 horsepower and 196 Nm of torque, paired with a CVT transmission.
