From January 1st, 2025, eco-friendly and green energy-powered vehicles will be issued a green inspection sticker.

Recently, the Ministry of Transport issued Circular 47/2024 regulating the procedures for inspection, exemption from initial inspection for motor vehicles and specialized machinery; procedures for certifying technical safety and environmental protection for modified motor vehicles and modified specialized machinery; and inspection procedures for motorcycle and scooter emissions.

Circular 47/2024 clearly states that the inspection and evaluation of the technical safety and environmental protection status of motor vehicles shall be carried out in accordance with the Standards for Motor Vehicle Inspection and the following five inspection stages: Identification and General Overview; Top of the Vehicle; Brake Efficiency; Environment; and finally, Underbody Inspection.

If a vehicle passes all five stages, the registration authority will issue a certificate of inspection and an inspection sticker with a cycle based on the type of vehicle and production date.

Circular 47 stipulates that the green inspection sticker is for motor vehicles using clean, green, and environmentally friendly energy.

The orange-colored inspection sticker will be used for other motor vehicles. The inspection certificate and pink-purple inspection sticker are for specialized machinery.

Regarding the placement of the inspection sticker, for vehicles with a control compartment and a front windshield, the sticker should be placed in the upper right corner or on the inside of the front windshield. The front of the sticker should face outwards.

For trailers, semi-trailers, and specialized machinery, a protective layer must be applied to the inspection sticker during use. The front must be protected by a transparent material to allow for the observation of the content and should be affixed to easily visible locations on the vehicle.

The inspection sticker shall be affixed by the staff of the registration authority if the vehicle is inspected at their facility. The vehicle owner shall affix the sticker themselves in cases of exemption from initial inspection, inspection outside the authority’s facility, or reissue.

Circular 47 will officially come into effect on January 1st, 2025.
