Dongfeng Motor Vietnam’s recent Facebook post hints at the Chinese automotive brand’s imminent entry into the Vietnamese market, marking another player from the automotive powerhouse joining the local industry.
Dongfeng is expected to officially introduce itself to Vietnamese consumers in November with an exciting lineup. The showcase will include two pure electric vehicles, the Dongfeng Box hatchback and the Dongfeng E70 sedan, as well as hybrid and gasoline-powered options such as the Dongfeng Mage HEV, Dongfeng Mage, and Dongfeng Huge.
The brand plans to open its first 4S showroom in Hanoi during the same month and is actively seeking dealership partners nationwide.
Dongfeng is not entirely new to the Vietnamese market, having made its debut at the VIMS 2017 exhibition. At that time, they presented the Joyear S50 sedan and the Joyear X5 SUV to local audiences. However, similar to other Chinese brands during that initial wave, Dongfeng’s presence in Vietnam was short-lived, and they largely withdrew from the market.
Currently, the Dongfeng logo is mostly recognized in Vietnam through its commercial vehicle offerings.
Back in its home market, Dongfeng Motor was once regarded as one of the top four automotive manufacturers in China, alongside Changan Automotive, FAW Group, and SAIC Motor. Founded in 1969 and headquartered in Wuhan, Hubei Province, Dongfeng boasts a diverse portfolio of automotive brands, including Fengdu, Voyah, Aeolus, and Forthing, as well as joint ventures such as Dongfeng Honda, Dongfeng Nissan, and Dongfeng Peugeot-Citroën.
