Earlier this year, BYD unveiled its all-new small pure electric SUV, the Yuan Up, in the Chinese market. Now, this electric vehicle has expanded its reach into Europe, specifically the UK. In the land of mist and fog, the BYD Yuan Up is known by its international name, the Atto 2.
The Atto 2 was born to fill the gap between the Dolphin and Atto 3, positioning itself as a competitor to the MG ES5, Suzuki eVitara, and the newly launched Toyota Urban Cruiser. Underpinning this electric vehicle is the e-Platform 3.0, shared with the BYD Dolphin, Atto 3, and Seal.
The BYD Atto 2 measures 4,310 mm in length, 1,830 mm in width, and 1,675 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,620 mm. In comparison to its elder sibling, the BYD Atto 3 available in Vietnam, the Atto 2 is 145 mm shorter, 45 mm narrower, 60 mm taller, and has a 100 mm shorter wheelbase.
The BYD Atto 2 is sized similarly to a B-segment SUV.
In terms of design, the BYD Atto 2 for the UK market is almost identical to the Yuan Up sold in China. However, based on the official image released by BYD, the Atto 2 features a simpler front bumper and distinct alloy wheels when compared to the Yuan Up.

According to Auto Express, notable interior features of the BYD Atto 2 in the UK market include a 12.8-inch touchscreen that can rotate 90 degrees, an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless phone charging, and a crystal-studded gear selector, reminiscent of luxury vehicles from brands like BMW and Volvo. Additionally, the central air conditioning vents are positioned relatively low, just below the infotainment screen.

Powering the BYD Atto 2 in the UK is an electric motor that generates a maximum output of 177 horsepower and a peak torque of 290 Nm. Compared to the Yuan Up in China, the Atto 2 boasts a more powerful engine, enabling it to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds.
Moreover, the BYD Atto 2 is equipped with a battery pack of 42.4 kWh capacity, offering a range of 310 to 463 kilometers on a single charge, depending on the variant. As a result, the model surpasses the Yuan Up in terms of battery capacity and driving range (301 to 401 kilometers).
The pricing for the BYD Atto 2 in the UK market has not been disclosed yet, but it is expected to start below £30,000 (approximately 954 million VND). It remains to be seen whether BYD plans to introduce this electric vehicle to other global markets, including Vietnam.
In Vietnam, BYD offers a diverse range of products, including the Dolphin, Atto 3, Seal, Han, Tan EV, and M6. In the upcoming year, BYD will launch the Sealion 6 DM-i in the Vietnamese market.
