A rare 1965 Land Rover Series II is up for grabs in the classic car market for VND 2.3 billion, equivalent to the price of a new luxury car.

This highly sought-after vehicle was once owned by a renowned vintage car enthusiast based in Hanoi.

Popular in the 1960s, the Land Rover Series II 109 is considered one of the British brand’s legendary models and the inspiration for today’s Defender. With dimensions of 4,445 mm in length, 1,676 mm in width, and 2,057 mm in height, along with a generous 248 mm of ground clearance, this vehicle is well-suited for off-road adventures.

Under the hood, the Land Rover Series II is powered by a 2.25-liter ADO 23 inline-four gasoline engine, paired with a Solex carburetor, delivering 74 horsepower and 163 Nm of torque. It comes equipped with a 4-speed manual transmission and four-wheel drive.

Despite its age, this 55-year-old SUV has been meticulously maintained and presents an almost new appearance. It stands out with its boxy design and features that are not commonly found on modern vehicles. The front end has a unique layout, with the wheel arches positioned higher and protruding outward compared to the engine grille. The grille is made of plastic, while the turn signal lamp guard is constructed from metal. Halogen lights are used for all illumination, and the windshield is equipped with a protective mesh screen.

The Land Rover Series II 109 offers seating for up to nine occupants. The passenger compartment features three rows of bench seats, separated from the driver’s compartment. Being a vehicle from 1965, it is understandable that this SUV lacks many of the amenities found in modern cars. It has three gauges on the dashboard, including a speedometer, tachometer, and fuel level indicator, along with indicator lights. It also features a gear lever, a transfer case lever, and a manual handbrake pump.

To this day, Land Rover Series I, II, and III models remain highly valued in classic car collections worldwide. According to the seller, this particular Land Rover Series II 109 is the only one of its kind in Vietnam, making it a unique offering.
