In December 2024, VinFast Energy, Marubeni, and Vinpearl officially launched a battery energy storage system (BESS) at Vinpearl Resort Nha Trang, marking a significant step forward in the practical application of energy storage technology developed and manufactured in Vietnam.

This project, with a capacity of 3.7 MWh, is located on Hon Tre Island in the Vinpearl Resort Nha Trang complex. It is a part of the comprehensive collaboration strategy between Vingroup and Marubeni in the field of clean energy, showcasing their strong commitment to the energy transition and sustainable future.

The BESS, researched, developed, and manufactured by VinFast Energy, utilizes advanced lithium-ion battery technology and a liquid cooling system. This enhances performance and prolongs the system’s lifespan, optimizing investment costs and ensuring a stable and efficient power supply throughout its lifecycle. The successful operation of this project also underscores VinFast Energy’s capabilities in delivering energy solutions that meet international quality and safety standards.

This project is also a pioneering model of tripartite collaboration, with Marubeni as the investor, VinFast Energy as the solution provider, and Vinpearl as the direct beneficiary. Vinpearl will be able to balance and reduce peak-hour energy consumption, thereby lessening the strain on the power grid and enhancing energy self-sufficiency. The BESS plays a crucial role in Vinpearl’s strategy to integrate additional solar power systems, improving the efficiency of renewable energy utilization and aligning with their sustainable development goals.

Mr. Satoru Harada, Senior Executive Officer of the Energy Division at Marubeni, shared his enthusiasm: “Marubeni is delighted to realize this collaboration with Vingroup through our first project at Vinpearl, featuring a BESS produced by VinFast Energy. This project also opens up a new business opportunity for Marubeni in the Vietnamese market, as we provide BESS services to manufacturing and business facilities, helping them optimize operating costs and promote green transformation by integrating solar rooftop solutions.”

Representing Vingroup, Ms. Pham Thuy Linh, stated: “Through the implementation of projects within our collaborative strategy, Marubeni and Vingroup continue to demonstrate our commitment to fostering the energy transition in Vietnam. This project is a meaningful milestone, not only showcasing VinFast’s capabilities but also testifying to Vinpearl’s dedication to green transformation and Vingroup’s pioneering role in driving Vietnam’s energy evolution. It underscores our persistent efforts to disseminate sustainable values across various fields.”

BESS is an advanced energy storage solution widely adopted globally. It offers flexible electricity storage and supply, meeting demands at different times, especially during peak hours. Additionally, BESS can integrate with renewable energy sources like solar and wind power, addressing their instability issues and optimizing electricity output. With its superior advantages, BESS plays a pivotal role in the energy transition, contributing to a more sustainable and efficient global energy landscape.
