Hyundai has been tirelessly testing the electric version of its popular compact SUV, the Creta, in India. Now, the launch timeline for this highly anticipated vehicle has been revealed.

The Hyundai Creta EV is set to make its global debut at the upcoming Bharat Mobility Show 2025, commencing on January 17 in India. It is expected to be the star attraction at the Hyundai booth, alongside the new large SUV, the Ioniq 9.

The all-electric Hyundai Creta is set to debut at the beginning of next year.

In the Indian market, the Hyundai Creta EV will go up against competitors such as the Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV, Suzuki e-Vitara, and Toyota Urban Cruiser EV. However, Hyundai is likely to take a cautious approach with the Creta EV, particularly in terms of design. So, it wouldn’t be surprising if the Creta EV bears a strong resemblance to its combustion engine counterpart.

Of course, the Creta EV is expected to feature some unique design elements, such as a closed grille, revised bumpers, and new alloy wheels, to distinguish it as an electric vehicle.

Inside, the Creta EV will boast a host of new features, including a 3-spoke steering wheel with an electronic gear selector placed behind it. It will also feature a redesigned center console with two cup holders, an electronic parking brake, and auto-hold functionality. Cooling seats and a 360-degree camera are also expected to be offered, along with borrowed features like the climate control buttons from the new Hyundai Alcazar.

Additionally, the Creta EV retains the large dual-screen setup on the dashboard, incorporating a digital instrument cluster and a central touchscreen, along with an array of physical buttons for added driver convenience.

While specific details about the Creta EV’s powertrain are yet to be announced, rumors suggest it will be equipped with a 45 kWh battery, which is lower than its rivals, the MG ZS EV (50.3 kWh) and Suzuki e-Vitara (49 – 61 kWh).

The Creta EV is expected to be powered by an electric motor mounted on the front axle, generating a maximum output of 138 hp and a peak torque of 255 Nm. This motor is also found in the latest generation Hyundai Kona EV.

Hyundai plans to produce approximately 24,000 units of the Creta EV annually. Pricing details remain a mystery, but it is expected to be competitively positioned.
