VinFast’s FGF Electric Car Rental Service: A Flexible Ownership Option for Cost-Conscious Youth

Flexible Car Rental: A New Trend Among Young Consumers

Nguyen Thanh Loi, a young content creator from Hanoi, often needs to travel by car with his crew for shooting trips and client meetings. As he hasn’t accumulated significant savings yet, Loi opts for renting a car when needed to optimize his expenses.

“At first, I used to rent gasoline cars for around 1.5 million VND per day, excluding fuel costs, which was quite expensive. But since the electric car rental service from FGF became available, it’s been much more affordable. The cost is only half of what I used to pay, and I don’t have to worry about fuel expenses. Plus, the electric cars are newer and more luxurious,” shared Loi, a loyal customer of FGF – the company that offers buying, selling, and renting VinFast electric cars, founded by billionaire Pham Nhat Vuong.

Many customers appreciate the unique features of the FGF model, including diverse and flexible rental packages for short-term and long-term rentals, with options for self-drive or chauffeur-driven cars. Especially, the fleet of electric cars, ranging from VF 5 Plus to VF 9, are always new and offered at competitive prices to meet the diverse needs of Vietnamese users.

“Renting an electric car from FGF is a win-win situation for customers as it offers a ‘four-no’ benefit: no initial cost, no fuel expense, no worries about maintenance and insurance, and no emissions or odors,” said Hoang Lan Huong, a manager at a market research company in Hanoi.

In addition to its attractive short-term rental options, FGF has gained popularity among young customers for its monthly and yearly rental packages, offering convenience and cost savings compared to renting gasoline cars.

“The monthly rental price of 13 million VND is equivalent to the annual depreciation cost if you buy a gasoline car. Moreover, electric cars are entirely free to charge, whereas gasoline cars incur additional fuel costs of several million VND per month. Even if you had to pay for charging, the electricity cost would still be a fraction of the gasoline expense,” explained Nguyen Hai Minh, a 26-year-old bank credit officer in Ho Chi Minh City. Minh believes that in terms of cash flow, renting an electric car from FGF is a much more advantageous option for customers.

Young Customers Pave the Way for FGF’s Dominance in the Billion-Dollar Market

Apart from cost-effectiveness, FGF’s car rental service is highly regarded by young people for its convenience. Customers can book an FGF rental car through various online platforms (website, app, phone) and offline channels at their newly opened pickup locations.

“Young people are ‘tech-savvy’ and tend to embrace technology. Easy access to rental cars, along with transparent and clear pricing, will undoubtedly appeal to this demographic,” said Hoang Lan Huong, commenting on FGF’s attractive features.

Observers believe that winning over young customers is an excellent “warm-up” for FGF to penetrate the lucrative Vietnamese market. A study by Report Ocean predicts that the self-drive car rental market in Vietnam is expected to reach a billion dollars by 2032, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of nearly 14% during 2024–2032.
