The All-New Toyota Hilux: Unveiling the Highly Anticipated 8th Generation Model
The Toyota Hilux 8th generation has been on the market since 2015. Over the years, this pickup truck has undergone 3 upgrades. It seems that the time has come for Toyota to introduce a new generation.
Recently, the Headlightmag magazine in Thailand obtained some information about the new Toyota Hilux. This allowed them to sketch an image of the pickup truck.
A sketch of the new Toyota Hilux’s design.
According to Headlightmag, the new Hilux will feature a completely redesigned front and rear end, while the interior cabin and side profile will remain unchanged.
The sketch reveals that the new Hilux will sport a rectangular grille with a honeycomb pattern and the “Toyota” name integrated into it instead of the familiar logo. This is flanked by sleeker and more compact headlights with sharp LED daytime running lights.
Additionally, there are triangular air intakes at the corners of the front end. The front bumper features a wide central air intake and small fog lights. The hood has bold character lines that give the truck a muscular and sporty appearance.
Headlightmag also reports that the new Hilux is expected to continue using diesel engines like its predecessor. However, these engines will be upgraded to meet Euro 5 and Euro 6 emission standards. It is also likely that the pickup will be equipped with an electronic power steering system.
Toyota plans to launch the new generation Hilux in Southeast Asia in the second half of next year. It will continue to compete with rivals such as the Ford Ranger, Mitsubishi Triton, and Isuzu D-Max.
In Vietnam, the mildly upgraded Toyota Hilux returned to the market in May 2024. It now offers additional versions and is priced between VND 668 million and VND 999 million.
The new version of the Hilux features subtle design changes and upgraded equipment. It now comes with a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, supporting Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity, and a new automatic dual-zone climate control system. The top-of-the-line variant boasts a 360-degree camera, 6 sensors, Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM), and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RCTA).
Thanks to these improvements, the sales of the Toyota Hilux in Vietnam have shown positive growth. In November 2024, 339 units were sold, bringing the year-to-date sales to 2,029 units.
