Ruben Amorim, the Portuguese coach, will take over Old Trafford next week, succeeding Erik Ten Hag. International media outlets describe Amorim as a humble man, evident not only in his interviews and management style but also in his choice of automobile as the new MU coach.

According to Sporting News, Amorim is well-liked by his peers and players for his authenticity and simplicity, reflected in his everyday style and choice of vehicle. The former Sporting CP coach is often spotted driving the compact Smart Fortwo.

“No, I have to be different; I wouldn’t choose such flashy cars,” Amorim once told Geoff Labine when the latter mentioned his intention to buy a Bugatti and a Maserati.

The Smart Fortwo EQ Cabrio is a “matchbox” car from Daimler, on the market since 1998. The last petrol version was launched in 2017, equipped with a 1.0L turbocharged 3-cylinder engine that produces 89 horsepower and 132 Nm of torque.

In Vietnam, the remaining Smart ForTwo cars are all pre-owned (2006-2016 models) imported and distributed by private showrooms, priced around one billion VND.

Currently, the petrol-powered versions are no longer available, and Daimler has transitioned all ForTwo models to electric. The newest ForTwo Electric Drive ranges from $13,995 to $15,495. One of the cars with a similar exterior to the Smart ForTwo is the VinFast VF 1, which VinFast will introduce in the future.

However, according to Noticias de Coimbra in early 2023, the Portuguese coach was once stopped by police on the A1 highway in Mealhada, Portugal, while driving a Porsche Panamera to Sporting CP’s training center. Ruben Amorim was fined 120 euros, approximately $130, for speeding (159 km/h).

It remains to be seen if Amorim will opt for more expensive cars with his higher income at MU.
