In a surprising announcement, TMT Motors revealed their plans to launch three new small electric vehicles in the Vietnamese market: the Baojun E100, Baojun Yep, and Baojun Yep Plus. Baojun is a sub-brand of SAIC-GM-Wuling, a joint venture in China.

Among these, the Baojun E100 is a compact two-seater electric car that was introduced in China in July 2017. Its aim is to gradually replace two-wheeled motorcycles and improve the environment by reducing emissions from vehicles.

Positioned in the small urban electric car segment, the Baojun E100 has dimensions of 2,488 x 1,506 x 1,670 mm (length x width x height) and a wheelbase of 1,600 mm. Thus, upon its launch, the Baojun E100 will be the smallest car in the Vietnamese market.

The Baojun E100 is equipped with a powerful 39 horsepower and 110 Nm electric motor. As a result, the car can reach a maximum speed of 100 km/h. Its lithium-ion battery has a capacity of 14.9 kWh, enabling the car to travel up to 200 km on a single charge.

TMT Motors has announced that this electric vehicle will be priced below VND 150 million.

On the other hand, the Baojun Yep is a pure electric CUV similar in size to the VinFast VF 3. It features a boxy design, reminiscent of the Suzuki Jimny SUV. With its high ground clearance, extended wheel arches, rugged front bumper, and roof rack, the Baojun Yep exudes an off-road style. Both the headlights and taillights utilize LED technology.

The Baojun Yep is powered by a rear-mounted electric motor that delivers a maximum output of 67 horsepower and 140 Nm of torque. It is paired with a 28.1 kWh LFP battery pack, offering an impressive range of approximately 300 km on a full charge.

The Baojun Yep is expected to be priced around VND 300 million.

Lastly, the Baojun Yep Plus shares a similar design with the Yep but comes as a five-door version. It is equipped with a front-mounted electric motor generating a maximum output of 103 horsepower and 180 Nm of torque. Its battery has a capacity of 41.9 kWh, providing a maximum range of up to 400 km.

The Baojun Yep Plus is expected to be offered in two variants, with prices ranging from VND 409 million to VND 449 million in Vietnam.
