Toyota has unveiled the new Camry for the Chinese market in late 2023. A year later, the D-segment sedan receives its first special edition in the billion-people market. Named the Glorious Edition, this version aims to rekindle Chinese customers’ interest in the Toyota Camry Hybrid.

The Toyota Camry Glorious Edition stands out with its eye-catching Matte Gray exterior paint, a dark and sleek color. This is complemented by dark exterior details such as the Toyota logo and the prominent Camry lettering on the trunk lid.

Additionally, the Glorious Edition gains a sportier feel with a new body kit, including a black grille, front air splitter, rear diffuser, and a subtle spoiler. It also rides on new 19-inch alloy wheels with a multi-spoke design.

As a special edition, the Glorious Edition comes fully loaded with features. It includes a pair of 12.3-inch screens for the digital instrument cluster and the central infotainment system, a head-up display, a panoramic sunroof, a Dynaudio Premium Sound audio system, wireless charging, and a USB Type-C port. There’s also a Boss Key button that moves the front passenger seat forward for easier access to the rear seats.

Under the hood, the Toyota Camry Glorious Edition is powered by a self-charging hybrid system, pairing a 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine with an electric motor. This setup produces a combined output of 194 horsepower and 188 Nm of torque. The front-wheel-drive sedan uses an automatic transmission and achieves impressive fuel efficiency, consuming just 4.2 liters per 100 kilometers.

The Toyota Camry Glorious Edition is exclusively offered with a 2.0-liter hybrid powertrain.

In the Chinese market, the Toyota Camry is also available with two other engine options. These include a 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) and a more powerful 2.5-liter hybrid powertrain.

Chinese customers can now place orders for the Toyota Camry Glorious Edition. Pricing for this special edition starts at 202,800 Chinese yuan, which roughly translates to 710 million Vietnamese dong.

Since its launch in the Chinese market in January this year, the ninth-generation Toyota Camry has faced challenges in attracting customers. This contrasts with the success of the previous generation, which was a sales hit for the GAC-Toyota joint venture in China. The intense competition from sedans offered by domestic Chinese brands is one of the factors contributing to this situation.
