The MG G50 MPV made its official debut at the Vietnam Auto Show VMS 2024 and has since garnered attention from customers. With a starting price of over 500 million VND, the G50 is positioned as a more affordable option in the mid-size MPV segment, which includes competitors such as the Toyota Innova Cross, Haima 7X, and GAC M6 Pro, all priced above 700 million VND.
MG dealers have started taking deposits for the G50, with an official launch expected in January 2025. The G50’s dimensions are 4,825 x 1,825 x 1,778 mm, and it features a traditional MPV design with a prominent grille reminiscent of the Toyota Alphard. The interior offers a choice between a 7-seat (2+2+3) or 8-seat (2+3+3) configuration, with the 7-seat option including two captain’s chairs in the middle row.
Standard features include a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, electronic parking brake, automatic climate control, and smart key entry. Under the hood is a 1.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine producing 168 hp and 285 Nm of torque, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.
However, the G50’s safety features are basic, including four airbags, electronic stability control, cruise control, tire pressure monitoring, rear sensors, and a reverse camera. The MG G50 will be imported from China and is expected to follow the brand’s strategy of offering a low base price with sparsely equipped variants.
The MG G50’s interior boasts a spacious and modern design, with comfortable seating for up to eight passengers. The driver’s seat is electrically adjustable in six ways, while the front passenger seat offers four-way electric adjustment. The infotainment system features a large 12.3-inch touchscreen display, seamlessly integrating Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for a connected driving experience.
The MG G50 is powered by a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine, delivering an impressive 168 horsepower and 285 Nm of torque.
