The world’s largest electric vehicle battery manufacturer, CATL, has recently unveiled a new electric vehicle platform with an extremely high level of safety.

As revealed, this platform can withstand head-on collisions at speeds of up to 120 km/h without catching fire or exploding.

The platform enables electric vehicles to achieve a range of up to 1,000 kilometers and supports fast charging, allowing a 300-kilometer range in just 5 minutes.

CATL developed this platform with the intention of selling it to premium automotive brands. The platform offers efficiency, safety, and cost savings by reducing production time to 12-18 months, compared to the typical 36 months or longer.

Currently, CATL has introduced this platform to Porsche as a solution for luxury electric vehicles and has met with investors in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to target the launch of a domestic electric vehicle brand.

The launch of this new platform is part of CATL’s growth strategy. The company is also researching microgrids and building electric vehicle battery swap stations to replace gas stations.

In late 2023, CATL successfully tested its CIIC (CATL Integrated Intelligent Chassis) platform on a B-segment sedan.

While the new platform targets premium automotive brands, its cost-saving benefits may also attract manufacturers in the mass-market segment.
