According to Tri Thức – Znews, MG dealerships across the country have started taking reservations for the G50 MPV since the beginning of November. Although there is no official information on the pricing and launch date, dealership consultants confirm that customers who book early can expect to receive their vehicles as early as the first quarter of next year.

The car will be offered with two transmission options: manual (MT) and automatic (AT). Dealership consultants predict that the price of the two versions could range between 550 and 650 million VND. The consultant also speculates that the lowest-priced version will likely be sold below 550 million VND to enhance its competitiveness.

When contacted for a test drive request, dealership staff shared that most dealerships do not have display models available until mid-December. Therefore, customers who wish to experience the vehicle will need to wait for another 2-3 weeks.

The G50, first introduced at the Vietnam Motor Show (VMS 2024), is an MPV offering a 2+2+2 configuration and seating for up to eight people, including the driver. In some markets, the vehicle is also known as the Maxus G50.

The specifications of the Luxury version, as previously introduced, include a 1.5L turbocharged gasoline engine that produces a maximum output of 168 horsepower and a peak torque of 285 Nm, paired with a 6-speed manual or 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission.

The G50 is positioned in the large MPV segment, competing with models such as the GAC M6 Pro (699-799 million VND), Toyota Innova Cross (810-990 million VND), Hyundai Custin (820-974 million VND), and the BYD M6, priced at 756 million VND.

If the predicted price range is accurate, MG will be employing a similar sales strategy as with the MG 5, offering a lower price point to compete with fellow Chinese brands, as well as rivals from Korea and Japan.
